Can't download while playing games!

Had a Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition, (It had the issue where it was turning off by itself so I had to exchange) but now have just the regular Xbox One X.

Anytime I play any game (online or single player), I can not download anything (it just stops downloading until I go back to the home screen, or exit the game completely). It has done this on both the PS edition, and now this one.

Ive never had this issue with the One S and the OG Xbox One.....

Active Download and playing games

Every time I start playing a game while I have an active download, the download stops and goes to pending. Why can't I play a game and download at the same time? I am downloading a game on demand right now and I started playing another game, my download
stopped. Can not the Xbox multitask? Thanks

What is the exact problem?

Do you get a can't download error?

If it's a can't download error then go into the hard drive and delete the partial download for Mafia II

Then download again but they time stay on the active downloads screen.

There is a bug that if you try to download a game on demand in the background while playing another game or an app or just browsing the dashboard, you get a can't download error.

Until this bug is fixed you should stay on the active downloads screen while downloading games.

Your lucky you could find a replacement there are none in my area and mine is a Scorpio aswell with the same issue.

You can't play a disc game while installing another disc game

But you can play a disc game while another is downloading, play a download while installing a disc or play a download while installing another download.

This is because it needs to rewrite some of the files that are there and add new ones too . This is the same for most games. Just play another game or watch tv lol.

Because its replacing data all over the game files as it goes. The alternative is thst you need to have 2-3x the hard drive space (one to download, one to decompress, ans one for temp files) to make it patch like on PlayStation, where you also cant play
while its downloading. Most people prefer the Xbox system
