Can't download to a different drive on Xbox App PC

Also, make sure all Xbox Apps are up to date in the store, and make sure you have the Xbox Companion App installed, it works with the Xbox App.

I had downloaded files on external harddisk from another computer and then copied files to xbox games in C drive....

This is likely the reason why. PC games on the Xbox App have additional protections that prevents files being used from a different install of the game on another computer. If you want to play this on your PC, you need to download the game from the Xbox App directly to your PC.

When you say you want to "download" a 2gb Video file, do you mean you are using the Edge browser app on your Xbox to download a video from the internet on your console?

If so, that will NOT work, no matter how many free space you have on your drive.

The Xbox Edge browser is a special app on Xbox, and to prevent "dangerous" files to be downloaded on the console that might break out of the console's app sandbox, the Xbox browser can't download anything at all.

While the system allows the browser a certain amount of space to hold temporary cache files and stuff, that storage can't hold any download files, no matter how small.

So if you wish to download a video and play it on your console, you'll have to download it on your PC, copy it to an USB drive, and then connect that drive to your console to watch it with the console's media player.

...telling me I need to update my browser with 3 choices and none of them will download because Xbox says you can't download to a local hard drive, but the app is on the same hard drive, explain that one to me if you can.

The three download links are intended for PC users. Since the website mistakenly detects your console browser incorrectly, they show you the PC links.

Since the Xbox console is a so-called "walled garden", and you are only allowed to install apps from a known source (i.e. apps and games from the Xbox marketplace and nothing else), the Xbox browser does not allow you to download anything.

In order to prevent malicious websites from compromising the Xbox system, the browser runs in a "sandbox" and has no access to the console storage. It only has a small app internal storage for website cache and temporary files. That storage is not big enough
for any downloads, and the Xbox system will not allow you to download even the tiniest file at all.

The Xbox browser is just a minimal tool to display websites.

And if a website erroneously mis-identifies the browser, you need to contact the website owner to fix their browser detection, or use a different device.

No I'm afraid that isn't possible. You can install to different drives, but you can not specify a folder like other Steam, GoG or Origin unfortunately. This is because Game Pass on PC uses the Windows UWP (Universal Windows Platform) to install apps and
games.

The Xbox Beta App is not a stand-alone download application, it does all downloads via the Windows Store.
