cant download games to a different drive?

Open the Xbox app, navigate to settings under your profile picture.

There you should see where the default location of games is installed to. Change this if it is on drive (C.

Also make the app ask where to install everytime because if Windows tries to override your default drive in settings, asking every time could work as it will ask right before it installs.

Lastly make sure the drive you're using is formatted to NTFS and not Exfat

Solution 1: Open RegEdit as an administrator and delete the following services:

Solution 2:

Go to your Windows settings, go to the >Applications and Resources>Find Gaming Services tab, click on it, go to Advanced Options and tap Repair.

*If it doesn't work, try the alternative below.

Download the Create Windows 10 installation media application from the link below, run the application at the end of the download, and then follow the program's instructions, click Upgrade at the end. Rest assured that none of your files will be lost, this is a System Restore that will try to fix this error.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

Please ignore the steps if they have already been completed.

1. Reinstall the Xbox app.
   
2. Reinstalling Game Services.
   
3. Quit Xbox and restart StorSvc
   

this applies to the game services if they are not reinstalled

First, I reset the gaming services and then proceeded with the following:

1. Go to C:\Program Files\WindowsApps Find 2 Gaming Services folders, take ownership and delete.

2. Open RegEdit as an administrator and delete the following:

You need to check if your external hard drive is formatted to NTFS standard. If you are not using this pattern, you will need to format the hard drive and select NTFS.

Are you downloading the game to a drive different than C:?

If that's the case, could you double check if the other drive is already formatted as NTFS?
