Cant download games on gold but am on xbox live gold and can use all other gold features.

I think he can use the apps and all the features of xbox live gold but since its a trial you cant get the games with gold.

Xbox live trials only give you some gold features,not all.

You need a full gold membership to download games for gold & to access all xbox live gold features.

I can still purchase games, but thats not the point. I cant use any of my xbox live gold features when i have xbox live gold

On the xbox 360 each account requires a gold subscription to be able to play online games and use the gold features.

On the Xbox one it isn't necessary, if a account has a gold subscription on the console all other accounts can use the gold features on the console

2. Unfortunately, the Gaming sharing and Gold sharing features provided by the home feature work best on two Xbox Consoles only. The third account and console will have to provide Xbox Gold and Games for itself.

You can utilize the "Home" feature provided by Xbox to share games and Xbox Live gold with other players on that "Home" console.

Basically, the account that is registered with the Xbox Live Gold Subscription and purchases games should set the other console as their "Home". This enables the other player to access their game as well as receive Xbox Live Gold benefits.

However, keep in mind that if you switch your "Home" Xbox to another one, the other account on the previous Xbox will no longer have gold or access to all the games.
