Can't download gamer profile when trying to play backward compatible Xbox 360 games

Dear Xbox community,

For days now I have been trying everything to download my gamer profile while trying to play Xbox 360 games on my Xbox one. I know this is a relatively common problem as I have seen it posted online many times. To me, the fact that his problem has persisted
for months without a clear solution is completely unacceptable. For me, like many others I'm sure, making the decision to upgrade to an Xbox is a costly decision and being able to play all the old games I downloaded was one of the main reasons for buying the
new console. Being a customer of more than 10 years I am extemely disappointed with Microsoft's apparent disinterest in solving this pretty big problem and lack of understanding to customers who have been loyal to them for years.

To any Microsoft staff reading this, please feel free to pm me or reply to this post with a solution to the problem. However, since I doubt such a solution exists, I strongly encourage you to make this fact known to your superiors so that in time it can
be remedied.

Again, I would just like to say how disconcerting it is to spend so much money on a console that, in essence, is relatively useless to me given I only got one game with it. If this problem and others like it persist, I will have to strongly consider switching
to another platform.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. Let's hope we get some positive responses. Thanks for reading.

problems downloading a profile for backward compatibility

nearly a month ago had this problem, I wanted to download my profile for backwards compatible Xbox 360 games and I can not, I have no profile to play backward compatible games, and less play online please help !!!!

Hi,

what does error say? app password? if so

create one here
account.live.com/.../Manage

then try and sign in.

oh yeah, step by step;

sign in account.live.com/.../Manage if you're not at the page Security settings

then select the Security & Privacy tab -> More security setting -> scroll down to you see app passwords then create and use that to sign in. it works I tried it.

Hey thanks for the reply. Well my error says can't connect to Xbox live right now, even though I'm already signed into Xbox live on my xb1... What to do?? I've seen it posted on many forums so I know I'm not alone. I'll try your link anyway!

and then start up an xbox 360 and attempt to download your profile.

Hello, my xbox live profile is called "RinsableMLG" and today for some reason, I can't play xbox 360 backwards compatible games be ause my profile won't download on the xbox 360 servers. I can play xbox one games, but I can't play my xbox 360 games
and my profile won't download and it states "There's a problem with your credentials, blah blah blah". If I use my other two accounts, I can play on the xbox 360 games but not my RinsableMLG one. I seriosuly don't know what to do and I'm panicking right now.

I have the exact same problem. I was just trying to play saints row but couldn't connect to xbox live on backwards compatibility. So I deleted my account and now I can't download on backwards compatibility with the same error message as you.

Hello Jnc,

Try downloading your profile within the 360 emulator. Launch the backward compatible game, hit the start and back button together. (two buttons under the guide button) Do not try and remove profile, just select download profile. It will ask for email/password
then download profile. Personally had to do this for a backward compatible game. Also noticed when I did, on the 360 emulator had an old gamer tag of mine. After I did this had my current one.

Try this see if it helps.

After that, I try to play Alan Wake and I still can't connect to live to download my profile. Is the 360 Backward Compatibility broken?

You need to have your Xbox 360 profile downloaded on your Xbox One console while playing Xbox 360 backwards compatible games. You can try to delete and re-download it by trying these steps below:

*Launch the Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible Game

*While on the loading screen, press the Menu and View Button at the same time (Two small buttons at the center of the controller)

*Once you successfully pressed the two buttons, the Xbox 360 Guide Button should show up

*From there, you have an option to Delete or Download Your Profile

Try those steps, make sure that your profile is downloaded and signed in, then launch the Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible Game again.

Same problem, Works fine on Xbox one but 360 and backwards compatable does not allow online play. Tried all the "experts" recommendations and now can not even download my profile to the backwards compatable game when it loads, 2 hrs wasted
