Can't download free games.

As the subject header says. I have tried to download Tomb Raider, Bio Shock Infinite, and now Gears of War Judgment. Only to get the message "can't download Tomb Raider/Bio Shock Infinite/Gears of War Judgment".

Is there anything I can do to resolve this problem?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Can't download 'Free' Games with Gold

Hi,

So you should try from the console with your child account as he his the owner of the Gold subscription, the Games with Gold are logically displayed from the console dashboard.

However, it also seems that the used profile to do it must have a valid payment option linked to his MS account, see

I am the parent profile on xBox 360 & my son is the child profile. I loaded a Gold voucher onto his profile to enable him to play live games like MInecraft as well as get the 'free' games with Gold. When I log in on my PC I am able to see that the games
are available from both of our profiles but can't download it from either of our profiles on my Windows PC - I get an error from both profiles saying I have to download it from the xBox consol. However I can't find the games anywhere from either of our profiles.

Please advise what the process is to successfully download the 'free' games with Gold.

Has your account got an age restriction on it ?

 

Nope. It allows me to get to download, then after about 30 seconds I get the message. When I look at my storage device and check out the games there, the three games I have mentioned are listed as incomplete.

 

Do it on the web site then go to history then try re-downloading them.

 

Have you enough space on your hard drive ?

 

Same thing has been happening to me aswell, pops up withe message cant download when trying to download forza fast and furious and bioshock on the 360. Not sure on the solution, but i have tried deleting re-downloading, clearing the system cache, got about
30gb on my hdd left so its not that for me, im thinking it must be affecting a few people so hopefully they will get it sorted soon

@Mr Boozyhead, yeah I have more than enough space on my hard drive. Over 40gig left. It only started happening with Tomb Raider.

@R1CH5TER, I have tried everything you have tried too. I did briefly get Gears of War to 26% downloaded before the message popped up, this was after I cleared the system cache.

 

Have you tried phoning Xbox support to see what they suggest ?

 

I think that is going to have to be my next step.

 

I had a similar problem with Sniper Elite V2, I just left it for a day and tried again.. it did eventually DL, but it took bloody hours!

 

Have tried to download Forza F&F numerous times but I am also getting the `cannot download` message.

Not had problems with anything else though, very strange.

 

Not to hijack this thread but I am facing the same problem. I am posting here in the hope that this gets more attention.

I am unable to download Gears of war: judgement that is free this month. The download gets added to the queue but cancels itself saying that "Can't download gears of war judgement". This is super irritating!!

 

having the same problem.... trying to re-download Saints Row 3.

the past few free games have been problematic, as detailed above, a friend has had the same issues, and it seems it's not limited to free games - i bought WIngs of Steel and that had the same problem initially.

it seems to happen mostly if the download is interupted while playing another game, turning off the console, and particularly after launching and using Internet Explorer ... it's as if the console is losing the stub / download progress file or whatnot.
background downloads are active... but not working as the should.

i mention this to see if anyone else with the same issue experiences it after the download is interupted.

if it's any help, sometimes i've managed to re-trigger a download with the following steps, although it's not consistent and it maybe just chance...

1. Start the incomplete download - and cancel it at the screen where it says 0%, before it says can't download.

2. Clear the cache. ( and optionaly restart the box at this point )

3. Navigate to system storage and find the incomplete file. ( in the blind hope that doing so reminds the xbox it's there and makes a note sonewhere . . .) . don't delete it.

4. Goto your account download history or storefront and try to re-download it.

This has worked for me twice, directly, but on other occasions it did not - it may be worth a try but, as i say above, it's possibly just chance or retrying itself that has dislodged things and kicked the download off again.
