Can't download Free Games with Gold

I'm having major problems getting the free games with gold.

I have had my xbox one for just over a month. When I first got the xbox I set up the free 14 day trial, but then realized that I couldn't download the games on the free trial. I therefore added a 3 month subscription, and was able to download the free games.

However when I tried to download the games on the 15th, I couldn't access them. I have been trying for the past 10 days with no luck.

The games do not appear on the home page. I have also tried going to store>membership and this doesn't work.

I also tried searching for this months game. When I click on the game, I have two options, buy or free. When I click on the free button, it takes me to the page when I get to extend my gold account (even though it says my current subscription doesn't expire
until Dec). I also tried to download the games online at xbox.com.

The fact that the games can't be downloaded on line either suggests there is a problem with my account settings, and not with the console. This is born out by the fact that if I sign out, I can see the games with gold, but as soon as I login I can't download
the games.

I spent 2.5hrs on to live chat support and have done the following

1) A power recycle

2) An entire reset of the xbox

3) Cancelling my subscription and entering a new code

4) Resetting security codes etc

They suggested I post on this forum - which seems crazy as it seems obvious to me that there is something wrong with my account.

Can anyone help or suggest how I can get my gold account to work, so I can get what access to the games, since this is part of what i've paid for.

I have been having trouble downloading games off the games with gold website for almost a year now. I find it works better in Internet Explorer instead of the more popular and less rapey browser Chrome. No Internet Explorer; I do
not want to install Bing, Maps and Edge, and no I don't want to give you Amazon referrals...ANYWAYS...Try Internet Explorer. Try again the next day. Try the console. Try the mobile app. It usually eventually works even if it is ALWAYS a lot of work. Nothing
is free, including games we pay monthly for.

Can't download 'Free' Games with Gold

Hi,

So you should try from the console with your child account as he his the owner of the Gold subscription, the Games with Gold are logically displayed from the console dashboard.

However, it also seems that the used profile to do it must have a valid payment option linked to his MS account, see

Games with Gold FAQ.

 

Has anyone got any suggestions as to how this can be fixed, or how I can get MS to resolve the issue.

Can you please go to the web of microsoft account, log in with the email of your gamertag, go to manage account, services and subscriptions and please tell me what does it say there. If your subscription is active, it should be there with the expiration
date.

Also, have you tried to delete and recover your gamertag on your console?

I've tried doing a full reset on xbox, and separately also tried removing and then re-adding my gamer tag.

Still no joy and no signs of being able to access the games. so frustrating

Free games under Games with Gold that are being released are usually the ones that are included in backward compatibility feature. To successfully download these free games, you can do it online via
Xbox | Games and Entertainment on All Your Devices that is if the account that you're using is an adult account. If it's not working then I'm pretty sure that it would work using an Xbox 360 console, not the Xbox One.

 

My post is regarding to Xbox 360 games by the way, if it's an issue with Xbox One game then do get the games via Home > Storage > Games or via website:
Xbox | Games and Entertainment on All Your Devices.

 

What if i don't have xbox360?

I have ran into same issue in last month and still can't figure out anything. I am able to get Xbox One free games but not 360 Free games. Market says:

"Sorry

Your purchase cannot be completed at this time. Please try again."

And this error is keep getting all the time, even from xbox.com on PC. I have already missed free 360 game in September and now I will miss October too.

However whenn I go to xbox.com. I can't download the games. Instead I get a link to join xbox gold. Its as if my two accounts are not linked. Or it thinks I am in trial mode.

The fact that I can't access the games from the console OR on-line suggests my account is corrupt.

To be clear I can't get 360 or xbox one games.

So frustrating!!!!

 

Update,

I can now download the games from xbox.com.

According to support my account was setup as uk, but for some reason my physical location was being incorrectly picked up as being in the US.

I can now download via the online store. However my console still flatly refuses to let me directly download wither the xbox one or xbox 360 games. I have tried changing my region on the console to USA and back to UK, but this makes no change.

 

You can't you must use the region migration tool on this website then change it to yourself console
