    Can't download Doom Eternal, Dragon Quest with XGP ultimate on PC, xbox app


    I can't download

    * Dragon Quest

    * Doom Eternal

    When I click Install, the Xbox app fails instantly, See error details say "Something unexpected happened, .... error code 0x00000001", nothing valuable.

    I tried to remove Xbox app, gaming service, reinstall, none of these works.

    However, I tried Forza Horizon 4, Forza 7, Haven, all successful, without any issue.

    I doubt if there is anything wrong with my account, it seems I can't access certain games.

    Why can't I play DOOM Eternal or DOOM (2016) with a regular gamepass subscription?

    I have been able to install other Xbox gamepass games. But when I try to go download DOOM (2016) or Doom Eternal, where the download option would be is where it says upgrade to Ultimate. So I can't download the game.

    Xbox app for PC does not automatically update any games

    I was able to solve this. My Xbox app on PC showed a new update for Doom Eternal. But clicking Update in that app didn't do anything.

    On opening the Microsoft Store and going to updates, it listed the Doom Eternal update along with a few others. I did a Update all and to my surprise all apps, except Doom Eternal got updated and it remained in my queue.

    Then I clicked Get Updates. It found a few more apps to update and this time Doom Eternal update started downloading too. No idea what the trigger is though.

    Make sure you are on 1903 win10 version (type winver on search).If not download windows update assistant and follow the steps to update windows.

    Download and use Xbox beta app

    Login with your account you have upgraded to xgp ultimate

    I have Xbox GamePass Ultimate, but Xbox App on PC only recognizes the standard GamePass

    Ultimate is just a bundled subscription of Gold, Game Pass for console, and Game Pass for PC. It doesn't change what games are available on Game Pass. Doom Eternal is available with Game Pass for PC.
