Can't do system update on Xbox 360 Slim due to not enough storage on my NEW hard drive

    Dear community,

I bought a new Hard Drive for my 3 year old Xbox 360 Slim (matt black) because the original Hard Drive was broken, a months ago.

Everything was alright till 2 days ago, the Xbox keeps asking for updating the system (see the picture below), when I want to do the update is is saying that I don't have enough storage (see the picture below) and the only thing what stands on the 320GB
    Hard Drive is GTA 5!!!

Could you guys help me because I can't do anything right now!!

  2. System Update Not Enough Storage

    Hi everyone,

The newest Xbox 360 update is unable to install on my system because "you don't have enough storage space to take this update..." The problem is that when I go to the storage settings it says there are no storage devices found. What about the internal hard
drive? Do I really need to buy external storage in order to continue using Xbox live now?

    Thank you

a week without xbox live.. 351F-0000-0080-0300-8007-045D

This error code indicates that your console is not properly recognizing your storage device. From our

    System Update Troubleshooting
    page:

    xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-8007-045D

A storage device (memory unit or hard drive) was not found during the software update. Follow these steps:

    1. Turn off your console.
    2. Remove all console storage devices, including any USB flash drives, external hard drives, or the internal hard drive on the Xbox 360 S console. Learn how to remove the hard drive.
    3. Add your primary storage device, for example, the hard drive.
    4. Turn on the console
    5. Try updating the console again.
What type of console do you have? Does it have an internal hard drive, or does it have internal flash memory?

Can't do system update on Xbox 360 Slim due to not enough storage on my NEW hard drive

where did you get the hard drive sounds like you MAY have a bootleg drive that tends to have that issue if you bought it online there is a good chance you got one of them.

Thank you for your fast reply Dave!

Yes, I bought the hard drive online but it was in an original package/box from Xbox. I can't find the package/box otherwise I wanted to make a picture.

If I've a bootlegged drive, are there any solutions?

An addition on my last message.

I don't know if I am able to post the link where I bought the hard drive, but I'll try.

Here the hard drive has been bought:

sorry to say that is a fake drive that is not the packaging a real one comes in they come in a package like this:

    www.remo-knops.com/.../Microsoft-Xbox-360-320GB-Media-Hard-Drive-3654.jpg
so yes yours is fake and probably messed up when the system checked before your update. your best bet is to try to return that one and get one from a legit source, MS has em on Amazon
just search for Microsoft as the seller. or you can buy em in stores that sell 360 system and accessories good luck!

@Dave, so strange because I used it like 2 months and now it not working anymore... can't return it anymore I bought it on 4 October 2014 and I've to return it in 7 days. Do you know any other solution instead of buying a real original new one?

@Eggs, hi yea I tried that but it didn't work at all unfortunately

Sorry to hear it. Dave is correct that you have purchased an unofficial Xbox Drive. The first warning that pops up when looking at that site is that they say the drive is Western Digital. Microsoft do not name any specific type of brand other than Xbox
    for their drives.

I'm afraid you'll need to purchase an official Xbox hard drive for your console. In the meantime please try removing the drive in order to update your console.

If you live in North America you could try microsoftstore.com (I don't know if you can purchase from another country). Otherwise it's always best to purchase from your local game retailer.

How much space do you have on the 4gb flash drive? You can check by going to Settings>System>Storage
