    Can't disable auto renewal/remove payment option


    Hi, this current account I am posting from is an alternate account I never use anymore, but contains my credit card info. For the last 2 months I have been being charged on my credit card 6.99 for auto renewal of monthly live subscription. I logged into
    my account and when I try to disable auto renewal in the manage subscriptions area, it does not let me. It is an infinite loop, and still states that my next renewal will be 17/01/2015. I want to cancel it now. Also, when I try to remove my payment information
    it states that I am not able to remove my credit card info unless I cancel auto renewal, which is what I am trying to do in the first place.

    I do not want my credit card tied to this account that I don't use, nor do I want to renew it monthly for 6.99 when I don't use this account. No matter what I try I cannot seem to remove my payment information from this account. I would appreciate if a
    member of support/staff could get back to me on this issue ASAP.

    Will Not let me cancel auto renewal/remove payment.

    I do not use my Xbox at all and noticed my membership was still active. After trying to remove my payment option only to be met by a message stating "can not remove because this payment method is being used for... blah blah blah" so I go to stop the auto
    renewal and get a error message "an error occurred cancelling automatic renewal". Its like Microsoft doesn't want me to leave! Why is it so difficult to stop auto renewal and remove the payment method attached to this auto renewal?

    Please do not refer me to account management guide I've read it all! and followed the actions to the letter, but still no success removing the payment option or cancelling the auto renewal.

    Hey mate, you can't remove a payment option if it's attached to an active membership. I would turn off auto renewal and wait for your gold to run out, then if you don't want a payment option at all you will have to call phone support so they can help you

    When I sign in on my account on the xbox itself and access account management, it states that auto renewal has been disabled and that there is no current credit card info on my account. Also when I access commerce.miscrosoft.com for my account, it still
    lists a credit card and says auto renewal is off. However it says my membership is unlimited? It's only when I sign into my account on the web browser here that I am unable to cancel renewal etc (endless loop).

    I've done it before on another account with no issues. Maybe it is cancelled and it worked, but it is just not showing? I tried contacting support but their helpline is closed at this time for me. Maybe someone from support can tell me if auto renewal is
    disabled on my account or not?

    If you have auto renewal enabled you'll have to call customer support. That's the only way to get that disabled I believe. If you don't have auto renewal set up you can go to "My Xbox" at the top, then "Accounts". Next click on "Manage Payment Options" and
    the option to remove your Credit / Debit will be right there.

    But I agree that it's stupid how they have it setup. You should be able to disable auto renewal straight from the website just like how you can enable it on the website.

    This happens because when somebody subscribes any subscription the "Auto Renew" options becomes activated by default and the card cannot be removed as payment method while this auto renew is enable. To turn off you need to login with his account here in

    Services and Subscriptions     and under Xbox Live should appear the option to "manage auto renew", hit it and should appear "disable auto renew".

    If you can't access with his account I think the better is to cancel directly in the bank. I think they can just cancel charges for a specific company and dont need to cancel the card.

    I believe (I'm sure others will confirm) if you leave auto renew on but remove your payment option the system will still try and charge you, if it can't take payment the account will likely be suspended until payment is resolved.

    You can't remove a payment option while it's attached to an active gold subscription. So you would either have to cancel his gold or make sure auto-renewal is turned off and remove the card after his month expires.
