  1. Can't connect Xbox One to Xbox Live (or where are the PPPoE settings?)

Finally made the jump but I'm now stuck with not being able to connect One to Xbox Live the same way I did with the 360.

I keep getting the error "DNS isn't resolving Xbox server names". I tried everything the support page recommends, and none's worked.

I then figured it is because I connect through PPPoE and apparently, there is no such option in the Xbox One.

What should I do? Is my logic correct? Thanks in advance.

    :)

    Cant connect to Xbox live.

I can't connect, either. I live in the upper Midwest, and according to downdetector, that's where a large number of people are reporting Live connection issues. ISP is good, network is good, everything but the Xbox connects just fine. Hell, the Xbox even
states that it has Internet connectivity, just can't connect to Live. So yeah, either a DDoS attack, or someone spilled coffee on the server bank in Chicago...

Your using DSL? PPPOE is done on your router. I assume if your getting here the router is working and your getting online. What I would do is verify your DNS settings with your telcom. Then if you want you can use alternate DNS for your Xbox opendns, Google,
Comcast, etc. I am thinking your router may not be forwarding the DNS servers to your concise thought DHCP. Or your telcom is having issues with their DNS.

    Open DNS- 208.67.220.220

    208.67.222.222

    Google DNS- 8.8.8.8

    8.8.4.4

It is recommended that you use your providers DNS but it is not required personally I use Open DNS they also provide some pretty cool tools of you create an account. Which is not required you can just plug in those numbers at the top in any order of you
want and you should start resolving in no time.

  5. Thanks a lot Big Jeff V. I've tried putting my provider's DNS manually, but that didn't work. Guess I'll just try these alternate DNS, and see how it goes!

  6. It's still leading me to the same error message: "DNS isn't resolving Xbox server names".

I don't know, maybe the PPPoE isn't being done in the router/modem? And since I don't have the option to insert this info on the Xbox One, the whole thing isn't working.

It works fine with my Wi-Fi, but if I'd rather connect wired if I intend to play MP.

    Sporadic Connection.

    I believe it is dynamic.

Direct Ethernet from the wall the the Xbox as the Xbox supports pppoe connections (i had it connected like that for a while when i moved in) instead of going from wall to router then to xbox and pcs.

My understanding of PPPoE was that you do not need a dsl modem at all or at least in my apartment building, i have never had a modem and the internet and xbox live has worked fine up until this point. Or do you mean have the PPPoE connection set up in the
    router (as done)?
