Can't connect Xbox one to wifi

Hello, i've got a router wireless, and any other devices connect to it without any problem. Initially, this was the case for Xbox too.

After a couple of weeks, my xbox can't connect to wifi. Some days, after trying and trying (half an hour of "restart console wireless", retype password, and similar) , i can finally make it. Other days there is no way to achieve the result.

Xbox always SEE my wi-fi, but it doesn't connect automatically anymore. And when i set password, it tries to connect but it can't.

I get various errors:

-can't connect to DHCP server

-can't connect with an automatic ip address

-can't get an ip address

-there's a hardware problem

-there's a problem with your ip address

I've tried solutions i found in topic similar to this one, for example i tried:

-unplugging router and xbox one

-hard reset xbox one via button

-using another router

-changing security type (no password, wpa2 psk, wpa2)

-changing wireless router channel (i tried only with channel 13 with no results, i'm going to randomly try some other channel)

-reserving a fixed IP address bound to xbox one MAC

-disconnecting all other wifi devices in my house

Note 1: My router isn't dual 2ghz/5ghz.

Note 2: I cannot try with wired connection, because i haven't a cable that long

no wifi connection when 4k is use

my xbox one s, can't connect to my wifi when the output video is 4k. when i choose 1080p i can connect my wifi. i've restore the xbox, and it not resolve my problem.

 

Xbox one can't connect to wifi

So my WiFi has been working for me for the past year or so, then all of a sudden, my xbox cannot connect to it. All of my other devices are able to connect to the WiFi, but not my xbox. When I went to a place with different wifi and tried to connect it,
it could. It could even connect to my hotspot. Just not my original wifi that everyone else can connect to. Please help.

 

Can you provide what type of router and modem you are using thanks.

Have you attempted to contact your ISP regarding this or are you requesting support from the forums first?

 

My router is Huawei HG531 v1, the same of this picture:

I didn't ask to ISP. I didn't do because i randomly can use xbox wifi (for example, two days ago i watched a tv series episode in streaming) and because first weeks it worked without any issues.

 

Alright as you mentioned in your first post you got error messages i'll provide a link to troubleshoot this alright.

Follow that link and see if you can troubleshoot it.If it still purists then contact your ISP or try using a Ethernet cable to connect it wired instead of wireless

 

I can't solve that by troubleshooting.

I'm gonna try with ethernet cable, but that wouldn't solve the wi-fi problem...

What could i ask to ISP? My ADSL is working smoothly. Is just Xbox one not connecting to wi-fu

 

Hi there, could you try clearing the alternate MAC address please.

Settings/ all settings/ network/ advanced/ alternate MAC address, select clear and then select restart.

 

Hi, thank you for you suggestion, but i tried that one too. Here's the updated list of things i tried:

-unplugging router and xbox one

-hard reset xbox one via button

-using another router (a NETGEAR)

-changing security type (no password, wpa2 psk, wpa2)

-changing wireless router channel (by default is "auto", then i tried randomly with channel 13 and channel 9)

-reserving a fixed IP address bound to xbox one MAC

-disconnecting all other wifi devices in my house

-Port mapping the 7 ports i found on Xbox one official page. (i tried this because when it connects, it says "NAT limited", but i don't know if it's crucial to solve this)

-changing NAT type from "NAPT" to "Full cone NAT"

-changing band from "20-40" to "20"

-clear MAC alternate address

-change wifi SSID

 

Here's another test i've done yesterday:

1-plugged xbox one with ethernet (connection working, though NAT always "Limited")

2-unplugged ethernet and shut down xbox

3-xbox on: wi-fi connection working

I don't know, when i'll try today, if it's still gonna work or not. But i don't understand what happens.

 

I saw you checked the ports it's important to make sure they stay open if not that could effect your connectivity.

Next i want you to factory reset but first choose the option to keep all games and apps installed. I recommend this in case something is corrupted causing this if it still persists then a full factory reset should clear the problem up.

Settings - system - Console info & updates - Reset console

 

I configured these ports:

support.xbox.com/.../network-ports-used-xbox-live

But NAT stay "Limited", so i think i could have configured something wrong.

I show an example of a port i configured (i give xbox one fixed ip 192.168.1.20):

Protocol: UDP

Remote host: 192.168.1.20

External start port: 88

Internal start port: 88

Internal host: 192.168.1.20

Internal port: 88

Name: Xbox live 1

Another thing just came to my mind, since you talked about factory resetting: when i did the test with ethernet cable, and then i unplugged xbox and re-tried wi-fi (and it worked), External hard disk was unplugged from the console. There could be some mess
in it?

 

Highly doubtful but it's also worth a try. Remove the external drive from the console and factory reset it if it works without the drive then it's possible it may be corrupting your console as well if you can tell me what type of HDD you are using.

When i'll be home i'll try with and without external hard disk. If it works both ways i won't do anything, otherwise i'll try factory reset (at first choosing the option to keep app and games).

My external HD 1TB is by "XD". At the moment i can't remember the exact model, since i'm at work.

 

Well i confirm you that wi-fi doesn't work if i turn on the console with external HD plugged.

It sounds weird.
