Cant connect xbox one to internet (but router works)

Hi, my uncle got an xbox one and I tried to set it up. And we a big problem trying to get the first update. Cant connect to the internet try using a computer to connect (works fine) you may have to contact your ISP. We did that and well it did not work
did a bunch of resets and nothing . We got in contact with a person on support through phone and she told us to unplug our router for the xbox and replug it in. Well when we did that it disconnected the wireless phones and she did not call back and we could
not get through the phone call waiting. (Actually it would play a short song and then nothing. just no sound or anything. ) Please help; it is right now a brick with a cool light.

He has NewWave cable.

cant connect to xbox live

everything else in my house works on the internet but when I turn on my xbox it never connects i always have to give it trouble shots and it always tells me my router cant connect to internet when the internet works perfectly fine. If someone could please
help id preciate it.

 

Can't get smartglass to connect

Not sure what kind of "tinkering" you did, please explain. If I turn off the wifi on my iPad it does not work and says the app requires an internet connection to work. It then says, "Can't find an Xbox One to connect to. Is your console on, and connected to the same network as Smartglass?" I turned on the blue tooth, it did not work. I turned off blue tooth and turned on wifi and the app connected to the Xbox One. So in my case it would appear it is connecting through the router.

 

Are you on a wired or wireless connection to the router? If wireless, please try if a wired connection is working. If this is not possible please check if using the right WiFi credentials to connect to the router. Please also check if the router may has
a MAC filter enabled preventing the one to connect to it.

If that doesn't help please provide us with some more information on the network environment like router or modem model and make, how they are connected, DHCP setup and such stuff. There is a sticky post on the start page where is listed what information
should be provided.

 

hey this is what my uncle told me:

We're trying to go wireless to the router.

Phone, IPod, Tablet - All work throughout house and outside.

Tried WPA & others -They seem to be working, connected.

No filter.

Router: ARRIS TG862; Model TG882G

You said turning off the router disconnected the wireless phones?

You don't have wireless internet phones connected between your modem and router do you?

If so I read in another thread that they have their own IP addresses and can cause a double NAT making it impossible to get the xbox connected.

If you meant you just disconnected the power to your standard wireless phones by mistake then disregard what I said.

If your are on Voip of course you will lose line when reseting your router. It's also possible to have a phone directly connected to a Voip router which supports DECT. For example this are the standard features of the AVM Fritz Boxes.

 

no reply from my uncle right now but if this is only a phone problem is it possible to fix it? or is my uncle sitting on a brick?

 

Using Voip should not be the problem your uncle is experiencing. At least if they do not use a different router in line before the router the one is connected to.

Let me repeat the question what happens if using a wired connection.

Ok then.

So you are really sure the wireless connection works? Have you checked that in the router? Checked for the Mac filter?

 

In the previous post there is no filter according to the cable provider.

it connects to the router but says cant obtain ip address

(quick question, if I search my Ip address on bing should I use the same one shown or like add 1 to the XXX.XXX.2.XXX for manual connection? would that work?)
