Can't connect with friend

I'm trying to finish the Resident Evil 6 campaign with my friend but it won't connect us to each other. We can connect in a party but cannot when either of us host. This has happened on other games as well, Friday the 13th and L4D2. I am away at college
so my internet services have changed, though I am not on wifi. I am wired and the NAT type is open and "all services are available." My friend is wired as well and NAT type is moderate. When I was home, he was still wired and I was on wifi, we would be able
to connect long enough to start a game and go through enough checkpoints. Every so often he would lag out of the game and be forced to do chapters by himself in order to get the completion achievements. Also, don't know if it matters when I am at home we are
in the same state (wouldn't describe as local as we are in a big state) and when I'm in college I am across the country. What can we do at this point to connect to each other's hosted games?

To start out, can you clarify what happens when you and your friend try to connect? Is there a particular error code? Any difference if one or the other invites?

I have this same problem, there aren't any error codes. We can connect in parties, but it takes a minute for us to connect. But in games is always says "Game unavailable" or "Host Not Found" Regardless of who invites who. We can only play together if we
are playing with a third person who is hosting for us and we connect to them. Once in game we don't lag at all

 

I bet it's something to do with one of ya'lls NAT settings. Check to make sure that NATs are open on both ends, and all should be good.

We found this YouTube tutorial that showed my friend how to get his NAT type to be open. Both mine and his have been open before and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Regardless it ends up being a 20 minute process just to get one game going and
then it crashes on us. This is now happening in several games, including Dead By Daylight. I have been able to connect to other gamers, they can connect to me. He can do the same. As long as someone else hosts, my friend and i can both join and play together
but depending on a third party is getting so annoying. What can we do?

 

If your friend is trying to host the game that might be the issue you should try to host the game your self. If that doesn't work I will leave a link for you to share with your friend. It will show you how to change your NAT type.
