Cant connect to Xbox Live

Okay, so for the past 3 days, eveytime I try logging into my account, I get a message saying "sorry, this profile can't connect to xbox live on this consol. To fix it, download it again." I had assumed it meant to download the account again so I tried. Though
my login (really my brothers since I was given his xbox) Downloaded some other account instead. So I cant get into anything on my original account. It lets me log into other live accounts, but mine has a few games downloaded on it that I can only use with
that specific account, as long as I have live. So im in a bit of a problem here.

ok so I got a new router from twc yesterday, hooked it up and everythings fine, ive got an xbox 360 in the living room that's working great but my sons xbox 1 down in the basement cant connect to xbox live, I done the test connection down there and it said it was connected but he still cant get on xbox live, everything is hooked up just like before

Hi there, if you're downloading a different profile I'm almost certain you have inputted the wrong email and password which isn't surprising if it's your brothers old account.

Also if it lets you log-in and connect to Live on other accounts, are you sure that your brothers account isn't banned in some capacity?

 

How does one tell if it's banned? I mean..I don't think there would be a reason for me to get banned. Never got a warning or anything.

 

Well as you stated in your original post 'Though my login (really my brothers since I was given his xbox)' how do you know for certain there has been no enforcement action taken on the account if it wasn't originally yours?

I'm not saying it is for certain, it's just you've said other profiles on the same console can access live and also the message 'sorry, this profile can't connect to xbox live on this console' makes me think the account or the console has had some enforcement
action taken against it.

Your brother should have received an email stating why it was ban/suspended, but again, it may not be the problem.
