Can't connect to Xbox live

It keeps telling me that my account needs to me more secure. I`ve tried getting a code sent to my phone and email numerous time and then it tells me I need to go to xbox.coméproofs to verify it even though the code should be enough to verify it I would have
thought. I then get errors saying the service isn`t working through my Microsoft account when I try to verify it that way.

And something that may or may not be related. My gamertag is not the same one that shows up in my profile here. I helped a relative in Australia set up a xbox live account in Australia 6 or 7 years ago and must have used my own email address or something.
But I've had a gold account for a few years without any problems, so not sure if it's a factor.

I can't connect to Xbox Live when bridging. My Xbox settings are on Automatic and I can't connect.

You should check if you have enabled the 2 step verification feature , if not just change your security proofs here:

account.live.com/.../Manage

Change security proofs and disable two step verification .

Make your password change each 72 days going to help too.
