Xbox live wont let me connect even though i can connect to the internet

ok so I got a new router from twc yesterday, hooked it up and everythings fine, ive got an xbox 360 in the living room that's working great but my sons xbox 1 down in the basement cant connect to xbox live, I done the test connection down there and it said it was connected but he still cant get on xbox live, everything is hooked up just like before

Linsys E1000 thread here for more information. I strongly suggest acquiring a router that does support multiple consoles. You can check out our

Router Forum for a list of brands we have tested to get some ideas! Just be sure to find ones that don't have known issues and are able to support multiple consoles!

Well that does not make much sense, Me and my brother were able to play on our systems at the same time before. he has a ps4 and i have a 360

 

The Xbox consoles and PS4 require different ports to be opened. Since the Xbox One and the 360 require the same ports to be open, some routers cannot handle that and only prioritize one of the consoles over the other.

 

So my brother cant play on his ps4 and i cant play on my 360 at the same time?

Meaning if my brothers playing on his playstation i cant play on Xbox live?

If we got a router that can handle multiple consoles would that help?

 

Well we use mediacom and we knew other people who were having the same issue with internet and xbox

and we have been able to play on both consoles at the same time before so i doubt it would crap out if we both use wireless internet

 

Just to clarify, do you have more than one Xbox console connected in your house? Or is it just one Xbox console and one Playstation console?

 

Just one xbox and 2 playstations but 1 of them is only used at a time

 

Only 1 playstion is used the other is useually off

 

My apologies, I thought you had more than one Xbox console. Let's take a few steps back and try

testing your Xbox Live connection and press "A" instead of "Y" for more info, which should have a specific error message. Post back the exact error messages you receive so we can narrow down the issue!

 

Well, All the sudden im able to connect and my brothers on his playstion, But if i encounter this issue again ill post here.
