Cant Connect to xbox live.

I am using a mac in my room and it is connected with wi-fi to a modem/router downstairs. i brought my 360 upstairs and tried plugging it in wired to my mac and i cannot get it to work. it always says "IP Address Error". to recap my mac is connected wirelessly
can my xbox is connected to mac mac with a wired connection. i don't know why it won't work.

xbox live no go

ok so I got a new router from twc yesterday, hooked it up and everythings fine, ive got an xbox 360 in the living room that's working great but my sons xbox 1 down in the basement cant connect to xbox live, I done the test connection down there and it said it was connected but he still cant get on xbox live, everything is hooked up just like before

yes i tried that and it did not work. thank you though. i think it may have something to do with the mac..... i just am not sure what to do.

Could you please do the following:

1. Go to Settings > System
2. Click on Network Settings
3. Select your Wired or Wireless network connection
4. Select Configure Network

And from there, it should show you the IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway. Could you please verify that it does show you that information?

Note: 0.0.0.0 is not a valid IP address, subnet mask or gateway.

I've actually been waiting for my housemate to get back, as he also uses a Mac, so hopefully with this I can find some data to help

 

ChrisEatsBacon it does show an IP, Subnet Mask and Gateway. I have it set to automatic. would the mac and PC that i have downstairs have different IPs that i would have to manually put in or no...

 

oh.... wait the gateway is 0.0.0.0

 

do i use mac ip subnet and gateway or PC downstairs the is connected to modem/router?

 

Hey again Troubled Bacon,

If it's just your Gateway showing 0.0.0.0 then change your Gateway to your modem/router's IP address and let us know how that goes

If you don't know your modem/router's IP address, then please follow the following steps to find it:

1. First, pull down the apple menu in the top left corner and click on
   System Preferences
2. Next click on Network under Internet and Network.
   
3. The address will appear next to the Router heading.
   

Once you've found your Gateway enter this information on your Xbox 360.

You can do this by setting Manual as your IP Setting instead of Automatic. You might need to enter the IP and Subnet Mask of your Xbox 360 again.

If your using Internet Connection sharing, you'll need to use the IP given to you by the mac, as the mac would be the default gateway. This IP would also be different to that of the router you use for your home network.

It still did not work. i pressed the apple icon went to network settings then i clicked on wi-fi. it did not show me ip, subnet mask or gateway so i pressed advanced and it came up with another tab. i then clicked tcp/ip and i found IPv4 address, subnet
mask and router. IPv4 - 10.0.0.2 Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0 Router - 10.0.0.1. so i manually put them into the xbox network configure option and it still said ip address error.

 

My xbox is connected to the mac using an ethernet cable, so i clicked the option that showed on the mac. it said it has a self assigned ip address and won't connect to the internet. also under this setting there is no router number.

 

ok i have been searching and searching and finally got xbox live...... i still have a problem though. it says my NAT type is moderate. how do i make it open
