Can't connect to Xbox live with Ethernet cable.

    Hi,

As the subject states, I can't connect to Xbox live with my Ethernet cable.

My setup is something like thisCan't connect to Xbox live with Ethernet cable. :eek:dem - TP Link power line - TP Link power line - TP Link switch - Xbox 360.

I also have my laptop connected to the switch and that works fine. I also have a wireless adaptor for my Xbox, which connects to Xbox live, however the signal in my room isn't great and keeps dropping out, hence why I've gone with the power line setup. I
frequently get disconnected from Xbox live with it, so I can't stream videos nor olay games with my friends online.

ive tried resetting the wired connection to default in network settings on my Xbox but I don't know what else to do.

    :)

How to Connect Internet Cable directly to Xbox 360

    Hi everybody.

So recently I've been experiencing a lot of lag on CoD, i.e, whenever I join a game I get 2-bar and 3-bar connections. So I decided to search for some solutions. I read somewhere that I can fix this problem by directly connecting my Xbox to the router using an Ethernet cable. Now the problem arises as I do not possess an Ethernet cable.
Currently, I have a cable through which Internet is supplied (It's a Fibrenet connection, which uses Optical Fibres for transmitting the Internet) and this cable is connected to a router which provides me WiFi.
I was wondering if I can connect my Internet Cable directly to the Xbox 360 without Ethernet cables.
(The cable looks exactly like an Ethernet cable so it can fit into the Ethernet jack of the Xbox, so that problem is covered.)

EDIT : I connected the Internet Cable to the Xbox but when I tested connection, It does not connect to Internet. Help

  4. Can't connect to Xbox live with Ethernet cable.

    Hello, Spider!

First can i please have you try to disconnect all the devices from the internet and unplug any wires that you can. Then, wait 15minutes and hook everything up. First try to connect to Xbox Live using a wireless connection before using wired. Also, if all
else fails then follow the steps provided to you by the network troubleshooter.

If the wireless connection worked but the port connection didn't then consider getting a new cord.

If you need any additional support fill free to email me [Mod removed] or just reply on this forum.

Ethernet Connection Between XBox One & PC Causing Issues..........

If you plug in an Ethernet cable to your PC, the WiFi connection will stop on your PC because it should only be using the Ethernet connection. The only reason that I can think of for WiFi connecting and dropping is a problem with your Ethernet cable. If
changing the Ethernet cable doesn't work,
    support.xbox.com/.../connect-live-using-pc
try looking at that link to see if it can help you with your shared connection setup. Sorry I can't be of my help.

Wifi Media share Xbox - Mac

I'm hooked up to a Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway (Roger's Canada) modem / router.

I had the ethernet cable connected directly from the modem into my xbox.

However, when I selected test Wireless Network it told me to unplug the ethernet cable first!?

Now I have unplugged the ethernet cable and connect to Xbox Live via Wifi and also connect to my computer faultlessly. It's just weird that I can't use both...?

Streaming Xbox if it's on an ethernet connection?

I unplug the ethernet cable because I can't connect to the Xbox when its linked Via ethernet. As for my network setup, I have the xbox connected to the router with an ethernet cable and my router is tri band, so my pc is connected wirelessly to one of the
    three networks.

Multiplayer systemlink Red dead redemption on xbox360

I have essentially the same question except that I already knew about having separate accounts and each console has its own copy of the game.

The problem is that on Red Dead Redemption you have to be logged into Xbox live to access multiplayer. The moment you plug in any type of ethernet cable it logs you out of Xbox Live (if your connection to the internet is through wireless which ours is).
Thus plugging in the crossover cable prevents being able to connect to xbox live.

If you are not logged into Xbox live you can't access multiplayer to play with system link, and you can't create the physical requirements for system link multiplayer (wired ethernet connection between the two consoles) without being logged out of Xbox
    live.

So how are we supposed to plug in a crossover ethernet cable and still stay connected to xbox live?

How do you play Red Dead Redemption by system link if you cannot start or stay in multiplayer while the system link wiring is active? It is impossible as far as I can tell to have any type of ethernet cable plugged in and still use the wireless network
for xbox live, the system just won't allow you to do it. This precludes the ability to use a crossover cable.

    Xbox One X disconnection horror

if you can't use an ethernet cable, see if you can use a Powerline Adapter.

these come in pairs with 1 connected to the router by ethernet cable and plugged into a power outlet, the other is plugged into a power outlet near the device you want to connect to and connects to the device by ethernet.

this is what I use with my Xbox
