Can't Connect to Xbox Live Party on Wired Connection

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble connecting to Xbox Live Party when using a wired connection. My console is connected directly to the router via an Ethernet cable, but whenever I try to join a party, I either cannot connect or get disconnected after a few minutes. I've tested the connection, and it says everything is fine, so I'm not sure what is causing this issue.

I've already tried resetting my router and checking for any firmware updates, but the problem persists. Interestingly, when I switch to a wireless connection, the issue seems to disappear, but I'd prefer to use the wired setup for a more stable connection.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions on how to resolve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry for the late reply but the error message that comes up when he tries to join my party is "Can't connect to Xbox Live Party" and my ISP is optimum and his is time warner. He can establish a wired connection to his modem but I can't.

Please check network settings. Make sure that your network settings are correctly configured. Go to Settings > Network > Network settings > Test network connection and Test multiplayer connection. This can help identify any issues with your network setup.

If your NAT type shows "Strict" or "Moderate" please proceed with enabling your UPnP. Ensure that Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) is enabled on your router. This feature helps manage port forwarding automatically, which can help with NAT issues.

And then do port forwarding: Manually forward the necessary ports for Xbox Live on your router.

Here are the complete set of ports that needs to open:

Port 88 (UDP)

Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

Port 80 (TCP)

Port 500 (UDP)

Port 3544 (UDP)

Port 4500 (UDP)

Next is to clear alternate MAC address. Clear the alternate MAC address on your Xbox. Go to Settings > Network > Network settings > Advanced settings > Alternate MAC address > Clear. Restart your console after doing this.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly use a different Ethernet cable to see if the issue persists

Alright it isn't just Gears of war. I can't join his xbox live party or anything. He even tried switching his live connection to wired and it still didn't work...

Friend has an open nat as well, and I've tried wired and wireless. I can still connect to Xbox live and play online I just can't join party or games with a friend
