Can’t Connect to Xbox Live Party Chat After Latest Update

Please try to test connecting your PC to another network and check if the same problem occurs, you could configure your smartphone as a Mobile Hotspot and connect your PC to that network.

Do you receive any error message that you can share? As part our troubleshooting, please ensure that your communication settings are properly configured. These communication settings can be adjusted to limit who you want to chat with.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then go to Profile & system.

2. Select Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy > View details & customise.

3. Select Communication & multiplayer, and then review the settings for the following to make sure that they are set to "Everyone":

Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites

You can communicate outside of Xbox with voice & text

You can use video for communications

Note: If you're connected to a Discord voice channel on your Xbox console, your party chat status will say “Discord” and the name of the voice channel that you're in. If you want to join or start an Xbox party chat, disconnect from the Discord voice channel so that you can switch over to game or party chat. I understand how frustrating this issue can be. You're not alone, I've seen that others have reported similar issues after the latest update.

Try checking your NAT type in network settings, as a strict or moderate NAT can cause party chat problems. Also, clearing the alternate MAC address (Settings > Network > Advanced) and power cycling your console might help.

If the issue persists, you might also want to try it on a different WiFi Network or mobile hotspot just to rule out if it's related to your internet provider.

According to your description, you recently updated my Xbox, but since then, I can't connect to Xbox Live. The update seems to have completed successfully.



Have you tried to switch your Xbox console network environment? Try to switch the network your Xbox console is connected to, such as your mobile phone hotspot, and test whether it can connect normally.

In the network settings of the console, change the DNS to primary 4.2.2.1 and secondary 4.2.2.2. to see if it works.



You can also try to soft reset the Xbox console to see if the problem still exists.

I would like to know if you are getting any error messages or error codes and if you can tell me exactly what the error message is? Different error messages require very different solutions and your information will allow us to provide better assistance.



Also, I would like to know what error troubleshooting methods you have tried.



Before replying, please try the following methods for basic error troubleshooting:

Error 80151014 occurs when you try to sign in to Xbox Live | Xbox Support

As well as, changing to a different network, such as a personal hotspot. See if you can log into Xbox Live.
