Can't connect to Xbox live over WiFi

Hi

I've been using a wireless connection without problems since I first had my xbox one, but today it has disconnected from my network and won't let me back on. I live in the UK and use virgin media as a provider. My router is the one provided by them,
it says Netgear 280-10956-01 Rev.03 M2 CAV1 on the bottom.

I've tried testing my it says I'm not connected, so.I try to put in my connection details. My WiFi network is on the list so that's fine but when I put my password in it says " Cannot connect. Check your network name and password and try again."

I've tried a lot!

Have tried putting the passwordin CAPS and lower case and it doesn't work. I've tried turning off/restarting my xbox and router but still have them same problem.

I don't think.it's to do.with my network though as everything else in the house (phone, pc, tablet) are all still connected to the WiFi.

Any help is appreciated

Sorry to hear about the WiFi issues.

When you tried turning off your console, did you do a hard reset or did you shut it down normally?

 

Try unplugging all external devices (External HD's, Play and Charge cable, Kinect) and see if you can connect. Once connected, you can then reattach your devices. I know this sounds weird but it has worked for some people experiencing the same issue

I reset my console by holding the power button for about 10 seconds then turned it off at the socket. Turned off my router at the socket too and left it 5 minutes. Then when I tried again it worked. Connecting fine again now.

Been playing Destiny?

This problem is caused by a bug in Destiny.

If it happens again just reboot the console.

I really wish MS or Bungie would fix this.

 

Hey Malacath can you tell me more about this Destiny bug? Tried searching in the forum, but I'm not having much luck.

When you say reboot do you mean specifically to delete and then reinstall destiny? Or do you just mean to hard reset or power cycle?

I'm trying to avoid having to re-install everything again. That did the trick last time, though.

When i say reboot i mean fully shut down the console then switch back on.

To fully shut dow just hold power button for about 10 seconds.

When light on power brick turns orange switch back on.

If that doesnt get you back online the go to network settings the clear alternate mac address then select restart
