Can't connect to ceartain network (DNS?)

    Hi,

No DNS is not the issue here its just that you can't connect to the wireless network at all, until you can connect to the network it won't get an ip address or a DNS address, even if you manually enter an address it won't help because it isn't connected
    to the wireless network.

The router issues the Xbox an ip address and DNS settings, but it won't until has connected to the network first which it can't at the moment.

    Trouble with update

I attempted to download the new update and after doing so, I can't connect to xbox live. I tried resetting the network IP address and turning off/on wireless modem, but still can't connect. Can't get past the first part
of the 'test connection phase'. Afterwards, it takes me to the 'can't obtain IP address' help page - followed those steps but no luck. Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

Can't connect to Wireless network/IP Address

Start with the lowest common denominator first. I would suggest that you get one console connected and working properly prior to introducing another. Say, start with the xbox one and make sure it is working properly then add the 360.

I did a quick search for your gateway and to be honest it is a very inexpensive device which is normally the case with ISP furnished gateways and you will likely have difficulty connecting multiple gaming consoles to this device and have them perform well.
The ideal solution is a good cable modem and a good gaming router in two separate devices.

Do you have access to your router configurations? If so please find out if UPnP is enabled. Have you attempted any port forwarding? If not don't do that yet if you have please delete it. Let's make sure that UPnP is enabled and then connect your XBOX
One and see if it will work. Test it thoroughly and if is working well then proceed with adding the 360. If it is not working then get all the network stats on the One and post back the details so we can take a look and see if we can see anything obvious.
    Good Luck!

    connection

If you are using a wireless connection, make sure that you are connecting to your wireless network and have entered the correct password. An incorrect password might make it look like your console is connected to your wireless network, but your console will
    not receive an IP address.

On your console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.

    Select Network Settings.

If you are prompted to select a network, do one of the following:

Select your wireless network name, and then press Y on your controller to disconnect from your wireless network.

Select your wireless network name and enter the wireless password when prompted.

If you still can?t connect move to solution 4.

    Select Configure Network.

Note If the IP address begins with 169 or appears as 0.0.0.0, your console is not getting a valid IP address. Continue following the steps below, and make sure to enter the correct wireless network password.

On the Basic Settings tab, select Wireless Mode.

    Select Scan for Networks.

Enter your wireless network password, and then select Done.

Press B on your controller, and then test your connection.

Because automatic IP settings didn't work, let's try setting the IP address manually. First, we need to obtain your computer?s IP settings.

To obtain your computer?s IP settings

On your computer, click Start, type cmd in the search box, and then press ENTER.

Note If you?re using Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.

At the prompt, type ipconfig, and then press ENTER.

Find your network connection. (For example, look for "Local Area Connection" or "Wireless Network Connection.")

Note the numbers for the following items:

    IP address (or IPv4 address)

    Subnet mask

    Default gateway

Make up a unique IP address for your Xbox 360 console and write it down. For example, add 10 to the last number of your computer?s default gateway address. (For example, if your computer?s address is 192.168.1.1, use 192.168.1.11 for your console?s IP address.)

Note Each IP address on your network must be unique.

Now let?s set your console?s IP settings.

To set your Xbox 360 console?s IP settings

On your console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.

    Select Network Settings.

Select WiredNetwork or the name of your wireless network, if you are prompted to do so.

    Select Configure Network.

On the Basic Settings tab, select IP Settings.

    Select Manual.

    Select IP Address.

Enter the unique IP address that you made up, and then select Done.

Select Subnet Mask, enter your computer?s subnet mask, and then select Done.

Select Gateway, enter your computer?s default gateway, and then select Done.

    Select Done.

Press B on your controller and then test your connection again.

I keep losing connection to xbox live.

I too have the same issue where I get kicked off the wireless network. I view my network settings and it shows I am connected but says that it can't obtain an IP address. My router is working fine for 2 laptops, 2 iPhones, my Xbox 360 and an iPad. I switched
to using a manual IP address since the error specifically said that it couldn't obtain an IP. Worked for awhile then it happens again. Sometimes disconnecting from my wireless connection then reconnecting will work. Usually I have to restart the Xbox to
get it to connect again, but it'll eventually disconnect again.

Frequent disconnects from Xbox live for over a year...at my wits end here!!!

Ok, when I get the Red X, it says "IP Address Error" and underneath that, "Can't connect to your network using a static IP address"

    I think I'm fixed.

I unplugged my network cable to switch to the wireless connection and this seems to work. When wired, my xbox uses a static IP address ending in .98. My wireless IP address is dynamic and was assigned at .101

    What could have fixed this?

Was the static IP Address the problem?

Was it the fact that the last octet had only 2 digits?

Or is it related to using wireless instead of wired?
