We have a pretty fleshed out troubleshooter if your
    Xbox 360 Can't Connect
. Let's run through that guide and make sure to select the path that best represents the connection error you're receiving. Post here if you're having trouble running through the guide or if it helps!

I have the same issue and have run the cute little "guide" you have put up about a dozen times now.

There are tons of dissatisfied people using youtube with this same issue.

Where is the link to cancel my xbox live subscription? Cancelling because I can never EVER connect to my wireless router when my phone tablet and the laptop that is sitting right next to my Xbox 360 have no issues whatsoever!

  6. I had issues with connecting via wifi for ages.

It worked wired so it wasn't the console or the Internet.

Tried connecting via wifi and it failed.

Tried all hat resetting but it wasn't even connecting to the router so the issue was just connecting.

The password was right but it still wouldn't connect. The effect was different when I misspell the password.

I removed security to test if it could even connect at all and bingo! It connected all the way to Xbox live.

I put security back in and connection problem again.

Changed encryption protocol to WPA from WPA2 and it connected all the way to Xbox live.

Try again and find out exactly where or when in the connection process is the jam and repost.

It sounds like the cause of the problem that your Xbox is experiencing is on the software end. I would recommend checking to ensure that your modem is up-to-date with the latest firmware. Update directly from your router/modem's manufacture's website, or
contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Many people are issued a router/modem by their ISP. I would also recommend having them check that the service recognizes and does not limit access to the port or IP (an IP is a number given to a device like the
Xbox to identify it) that is assigned to you Xbox console. They can usually diagnose network settings from their office. Ensure that UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is turned on. If you have manually open ports used by Xbox LIVE or placed your Xbox in the DMZ,
turn off both of these features.

You noted that WiFi has been a problem. WiFi is prone to dropout, due limited range and electromagnetic interference (EMI). Interference can take the form of harmonics from the common insufficiently filtered switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) in today's lower-cost
electronics, or high current devices in the vicinity, such as transformers and motors. SMPS produce considerable electromagnetic noise, because at this time there is insufficient research to enforce stricter regulation over it. Newer wireless devices, such
as iPods, Galaxy Tab, iPhone, etc tend to be good at establishing a connection in the presence of noise. I cannot comment on the performance of the wireless receiver that you used with your Xbox.

A wired Ethernet cable is the most reliable connection type, provided that the cables are shielded types and the plugs are in good order. If the console or plugs have been subjected to any rough handling or alot of connect/disconnect plug use, the problem
can be the plugs. The plug contacts can be cleaned with electrical cleaner or rubbing alcohol, or can be replaced if they are damaged. That symptoms you describe do not indicate this as an issue, but I just wanted to put it out there.

Anyway, let us know how you make out. PS: I had this issue and the Youtube one you mentioned and I had to follow a specific order of operations to fix it. The Xbox's connection manager was unable to resolve the issue.

    cant connect threw router

Hey Born, if those steps aren't resolving your issue, can you please try connecting directly to your modem, and then run a LIVE connection test? I'm interested to see if the same thing comes up when connected as such. Please let me know!
