Can't connect to multiplayer games after Restart/Clear Alternate MAC Address

Every time I reset my router, my Xbox will not connect to the Wifi without clearing my Alternate MAC Address, which requires a restart of my system. After the restart, my system connects to the wifi fine. I test my Multiplayer connection under settings,
and it is perfect. Then I go to play a game, whether it's Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Ghosts, Madden 16, Battlefield Hardline, the games will not connect to the multiplayer servers. Online apps do work, like Youtube, Netflix, and IE. I then have to uninstall
all the games, re-install them, and then they will work. I have to do this often, and basically every time I have to reset my router. Anyone have a fix or having this same problem?

You must have an active network connection to play xbox live matches (CoD:Ghosts)

Do your apps work just fine and it is just multiplayer games? If so, follow these steps.

Go to Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings.

Go down to Alternate MAC Address and Clear the Alternate Mac Address if one is set.

This is a known issue that happened after the update with some consoles getting an alternate MAC Address set without ever changing the setting. Once you clear it out, you should be able to connect to multiplayer games again.

 

MAC address refuses to change

try clearing your alternate MAC address first. To do this go to Settings, All Settings, Network, Advanced, Alternate MAC, then Clear. You'll need to restart after this.

How would it be a router issue if the game freezes?

 

You indicate that you are constantly having to reset your router. If the router is not handling the traffic efficiently then it can cause all kinds of issues.

 

I've tried my Xfinity 5 GHZ router, both wired and wireless, and my Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 both wired and wireless. Everytime I have to restart my console, the games will not connect to multiplayer.

 

was your nighthawk plugged into the xfinity router ? if yes , that's 2 routers and wont work unless you put the first one in bridge mode , what is the model and number of your 1st device ?

 

No, they were separate. Cisco DPC3939 XB3 is the Xfinity router. I just did a factory reset on my Xbox One, also reset my routers to factory settings. Put the Xbox One ports back in, now installing my games and will see if that did anything.

 

what were you using as a modem if you were using the Nighthawk as the router ?
