Can't connect to live (WI-FI)

My xbox is a Xbox 360 E, everytime when i try to connect to live, it appears an red "X" and says it can't connect to live, i configured it, and i tried on ethernet too, but it have the same problem.

I can't connect my console to wi-fi

I'm trying to connect my XBox to my wi-fi but my console can't "see" my wi-fi i'm trying every option but it's not working.

Do I need a router to connect to my internet ?

Hey, I have a modem that is Wi-Fi and I can't connect to my internet, Will buying a router help ?

BTW: My Xbox is Wi-Fi built-in.

Do you receive an error code? Have you tried to log in at your xbox live profile from the web?

guys im using ethernet now but it says "error dns: the dns cant conect to the xbox servers"

Without knowing how your console obtain its DNS information, can you please read:

forums.xbox.com/.../155724.aspx And post back in full detail (scroll down to the questions in bold).

Also, state whether you connect your console directly to your router, or if you use a different method, to connect your console to Xbox Live (e.g. if you use a computer, to share it's Internet connection with your console).

You can try what DangerousBard suggested and use manually DNS settings. In such case, I would recommend you to set your console's DNS settings to a specific public DNS (Google).

Let us know how that goes.

How to change DNS settings

Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.

Select Network Settings.

Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network, if you are prompted to do so.

Select Configure Network.

On the Basic Settings tab, select DNS Settings.

Select Manual.

Select Primary DNS Server.

Enter 8.8.8.8

Select Secondary DNS Server.

Enter 8.8.4.4

Select Done again.

Press the B button on your controller, and then select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

Is your 360 connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi or via an ethernet cable? If connecting via Wi-Fi, the MacBooks may be interfering with the 360's wireless signal. That would cause you to disconnect from Xbox Live.

Are you using Wi-Fi? If you're able to test the console using a wired connection, do you still get disconnected from Live?

It does sound like a potential hardware issue, but I can't say for sure. The console's Wi-Fi board handles both the Wi-Fi connection between the console and your router and the wireless connection between the console and wireless peripherals such as controllers.

If the controllers work wired and if, when you connect the console to your router with a cable, you're not getting disconnected from Live, then I'd bet on it being a Wi-Fi board issue.

It's not hard to fix it yourself, although you would need to source the replacement board/card on eBay or whatever. It's definitely a cheaper fix than sending it in to MS or buying a whole new console, assuming you're reasonably tech savvy.

Is it over Wi-fi or is it a LAN connection? If it's over wi-fi speeds will definitely vary.

I noticed you mentioned Wi-Fi in the original post...have you tried using a wired connection? If you can't use a wired connection for whatever reason, maybe try to use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot to workaround the PC Wi-Fi and see if that does anything (assuming you have the data capacity of course)

Also, is this the only game you encounter online play errors?

Guys, i have the same problem. I tried the solution with downloading my profile, but even if i am connected to a wi-fi when i try to download the profile it says '' can't connect to xbox live '' when im testing the connection it puts a red X between the
wi-fi spot and the internet. Even when i try with another wi-fi the same problem appears. Im getting very angry because i have only few days of Xbox Live Gold left and i cant connect to xbox live from 1 week because of that error. I've also tried with reseting
the factory settings, deleting my cache, then restarting xbox, nothing works. Please, help me!
