Can't connect to Live when connected through wired internet connection from laptop to X1

    Hello.

I have been using my Xbox One for a year now and while most games are so big to download, I searched for a workaround to connect to a different network to download games. I found a solution and got it to work after a couple of hours of troubles. Connected to
    my mother's house network.

Now, I erased all those settings a while ago, since I did not needed to download any more games to my Xbox One. So now I have bought a few new games which all take 50+ GB to download.

I forgot what these settings were and now I can not simple connect my Xbox One through my laptop when I am connecting to my mother's network.

It's simple, says Google: plug in the ethernet cable in your laptop and your Xbox and you should be connected. I AM connected, just not to Live so I can not download/update any of my games.

I remembered, when it first worked, I had to tweak a few settings in the network connection tab, switching IP address, MAC, DNS etc... But I just can't remember what those settings were.

I ran a ipconfig /all in a command prompt in Windows, used all these settings but still can't connect to Live.

Any help? It's getting really frustrating as I have been trying to get it to work for 3-4 hours!

    :)

Xbox One Wifi - Need Help connecting

Simply put, you can't. Xbox doesn't allow you to connect unless it can receive a signal back from Xbox Live servers. ISPs like that, which are pretty much hotel wifi, force you to log in through their site before allowing any other signal through. If you have a windows 7 or older laptop you can share the internet that way, or you can mess with the router settings and MAC addresses and connect on your laptop then switch mac address to your X1 and sign in that way.

Connecting an Xbox One to XBL through Hotel Internet

I checked the IP address and everything of my X1 and it matches my laptop exactly. They gave my free access to the "premium" wifi now though. Doubled speeds! 3down...

On the premium wifi, it says NAT is moderate, but I pass both the Network and Multiplayer connection tests, but can't get on the EA Server

On the regular the NAT is open, I pass both tests, but have the same issue.

It also looks like it wasn't a wired connection that was working before, it was still the wireless bi can't get the wired internet working on my laptop, work laptop or X1.

Maybe running the wired connection from my laptop to X1 would work?

I'm not sure if this is the internet, an X1 setting, or EA that's causing this.

Connecting an Xbox One to XBL through Hotel Internet

Here's an update, in case anyone is in this same situation later...

I used my laptop to receive the Wifi connection, and then sent a wired internet connection from my laptop to my Xbox. I used two methods that both worked with varying success. (If you google something like "Connecting my Xbox to the internet through my laptop"
you'll find a Microsoft.com article that lays all of this out).

    1) Create a bridge between the Wireless and Wired ports on your laptop, then connect your X1 to your laptop. This got me on, but the EA Servers were very spotty. I kept getting DC'd.

    2) Turn on network sharing from your wireless connection, then connect your X1 to your laptop. This worked much better, and I never dropped. BUT this seems pretty sketchy on a hotel public network. I'm not sure if I am going to use it.

It looks like, based on my situations and others I've read, the X1 doesn't connect to multiplayer gaming correctly when you are connected on a wireless network using an Alt MAC Address. I am on Live, but no EA servers with this method.

Unable to resolve Double NAT Type for xbox one s

What exactly do you mean when you are "connected to your laptop over LAN wire"?

Are you connecting the Xbox to the laptop, and then the laptop to the internet? Then this is where the double NAT comes from.

Your Router is a NAT device since it has to do "Network Address Translation" for the devices directly connected to the router that access the internet
through one IP address, and if you connect your Xbox through your Laptop, then the Laptop is the second NAT device, as it has to translate it's own "internet-facing" IP address to the multiple devices (in theory you could connect more than just the Xbox to
the Laptop through a network switch or a hub) connected to the laptop.

To resolve your double NAT issue with Laptop, you'll have to open the network interface settings by pressing Windowskey + R and then typing "ncpa.cpl" and pressing OK.

In the network interface window, select both interfaces (the network Interface that connects the Laptop to the internet, and the interface that connects to the Xbox). If necessary, hold the CTRL key and click on each of the two interfaces to select both.

Then right click on one of the selected interfaces, and choose to bridge these connections.

This will then create a network bridge instead of a internet connection sharing that uses NAT.
