Can't connect to 5GHz band of Asus N66U wireless router.

As my title says my Xbox One won't connect to the 5GHz band of my Asus N66U wireless router. It connects to the 2.4GHz band fine, but I want to use the 5GHz because it's much faster. My modem is an **** TM822. In my router settings both bands are check as
"optimized for Xbox". I also forwarded the correct ports for the Xbox, but it still doesn't work. I tried chatting to Microsoft support, but the guy literally stopped chatting to me after he asked me a couple simple questions.

    :)

  3. Need help getting NAT open (running out of ideas)

So I have a Xbox one connected wirelessly to the internet. I am having trouble getting it out of moderate and into open. I have Verizon Fios and the internet currently goes from Fios/ONT -> Verizon Router/Mode, -> Asus rt-N66u -> Xbox One. I can't get
the verizon to bridge correctly so I have it DMZ to the Asus rt-n66u. Everything connects to wifi through the Asus router and not the verizon router and the verizon router and Asus router are hardwired. Everything is running the latest firmware.

My current setup for the verizon router is Wireless off, DMZ to the asus router IP, firewall on low. My current setup for the Asus is UPnP disabled, DMZ disabled, port forwarding enabled with ports entered.. I have tried all three, but have had no luck.
Anyone have any ideas that I can try to isolate where the interference is coming from? Also worth noting is that I am connecting via 5gHz due to turtle beach interfering with all 2.4 bands.

    Verizon Router: Actiontec MI424WR

    2nd Router: Asus RT-N66U

    Network Stats:

DL speed 62.17mbps UL speed 31.48 mbps

Packet loss 0% Latency 102 ms

    MTU 1480 Wireless Strength 60%

Can't connect to 5GHz band of Asus N66U wireless router.

I spoke on the phone to an American guy and he solved my issue within minutes. To my surprise the problem was that the Xbox One was physically too close to the router and it was causing feedback which messed the connection up. After moving it at least 3
    feet away it worked.

xbox one controller disconnects when idle or changing battery pack

    My disconnections have stopped.

I have the asus n66u router (dark Knight)

I have turned the 2.4ghz band off

The xbox one sits in a small closet, connects on the 5ghz band

Probably 7 feet away from the router.

The settings on the router, I have channel bandwith set to 40mhz and the check box ticked to optimized for the xbox.

auto extension is also set to auto.

Hope this helps, I have had the issue from day 1, still using the same controller, day 1 edition only with no issues now.

Unable to consitently turn on Xbox One X remotely

My router does broadcast both the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. When I tried wireless I connected it to the 5Ghz band. I have tried both plugging directly to the wall, and to a power strip/surge protector.
Thanks for that info. To check, both your console and your mobile were connected to the same 5GHz band when you tried this? Also, do you have any kind of MAC filtering or AP isolation enabled on your router?

ASUS ROUTER N66U WIRELESS XBOX CONNECTIVITY IS EXTREMELY SENSITIVE

    Greetings geminibourne!

Do you experince latency? I know from previous issues with ASUS RT-N66U that firmware version 3.0.0.4.260 is known to cause issues when connecting the Xbox to the ASUS RT-N66U wireless network. If your router is installed with the latest version of firmware,
(3.0.0.4.260) I would recommend that you downgrade to firmware version 3.0.0.4.246 which is known to work properly.

Post back and let us know how it goes.
