Can't Connect New 3TB Harddrive to Xbox 360

I recently purchased a brand new Seagate Backup Plus 3TB USB 3.0 harddrive and I want to connect it to my Xbox 360. I have an existing 1TB harddrive and I have movies on it and I use that all the time. I formatted the new drive to FAT32, and transfered
a few files onto it. I tried connecting it and my Xbox will either freeze or it just wont recognize it. I tried unplugging the Xbox and when I plugged it back in it finally worked. I turned off the unit and tried it again and now it is going back to freezing
or not recognizing the unit. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know how to fix it.

motherboard 360eliet

my 360 harddrive packed up.if i connect a hard drive from another xbox to it is the mother board able to corrupt the new harddrive

Can an Xbox one X use my Xbox one formatted external harddrive?

I recently got an Xbox one X, and I was wondering if my 3tb seagate harddrive I have formatted for my old Xbox one will work on my new Xbox one X console, or will it not be compatible?

Hey there, that's because the Xbox 360 does not support eternal hard drives you can only use two 64gb USB's as external storage, see link for more information:

I am not using it as storage for the unit, I am using it to watch movies with. I am currently using a 1TB external drive and that works fine.

Well I was under the impression that they don't work and also didn't think it was possible to stream movies from it as generally you would set up the 360 as a media extender and stream the movies from the PC to the Xbox.

The largest drive a 360 can see is 2 TB which is why the 360 does not recognize it.

So it was just a glitch when it worked that one time? Is there any way around this?

As it is a hardware or firmware limitation (I don't know which unfortunately), no there is not a way around it unless it is a firmware limitation and Microsoft upgrades it in a future dashboard update, which is highly unlikely. But for now, you can only
use 2TB or smaller drives for media.

the hdd may need to be formatted try using swissknife and format with that program maybe it will work
