cant connect 360 pad to xbox 1 console

i cant connect any x box 360 pad with new x box one console.batteries are brand new energiser.works when trying it with older x box just not connecting on x box 1.also cant connect a wired pad it flashes for a second then nothing.can anyone help? thanks

Are they saying it is possible to use the 360 controllers on the One or does that come from not owning a One? Actually I've always found the 360 controller better shape and weight-wise inm comparison to the One pad but the only thing letting the 360 pad down is the potato d-pad. Never ever tried connecting a 360 pad to the One.Click to expand...

You can't use a 360 controller on the Xbox One.

compatible with the Xbox One, see "Xbox One backward compatibility FAQ".

No, the 360 chat pad will not work, but you can connect a usb keyboard to the console and use that

Xbox pads are universal on all one/s/x consoles, connect them by pressing the key where you change the batteries together with the Xbox button on the console, or connect the USB wire between the console and pad and see if you also fix it by updating the
pad

To anyone new to this thread and haven't already, please check out my previous troubleshooting posts here and here. We also recommend using your wireless controller connected with a micro-USB cable to the Xbox One console to help with the controller's connectivity

Sorry to hear about the controller issues! Check out our Wireless Controller Connection troubleshooting page and follow each of the steps to get your
controllers to connect. If both controllers continue to experience wireless connection issues following each and every troubleshooting step on that page, your console will need to be serviced.

If it comes down to your console needing to be serviced, you can submit that request by either contacting our chat or phone support agents through our Contact Us page, or by setting it all up at the Online
Service center.
