    Can't configure manual DNS settings


    I'm having problems configuring manual DNS settings on my Xbox One.

    I input the values for Primary and Secondary DNS normally, but the value for Primary always ends up being 0.0.0.0 and the value for Secondary gets the value I entered for the Primary.

    Seems like a bug to me.

    Is there any workaround?

    Try manual DNS Settings. On your xbox, go to Settings, System, Network Settings, Wired- or Wireless -Network, Configure Network, DNS Settings. Choose manual. Select Primary DNS Server and type in: 192.168.2.1

    Connection test fails between internet and Xbox Live

    try google dns. go to network settings, configure network, basic settings, manual, primar dns, enter 8.8.8.8, secondary dns,8.8.4.4 then done. test xbox connection. this worked for me. thanks xbox personal

    I've set up wireless again afterwards and my settings were correctly applied.

    anything else you did.. have the same issue tried wirless and man it work before for netflix but now no more prim dns... reset router and all...

    I can't set my primary either only the 2ndary changes, it remains a ipv6 address.

    If you are unable to get an automatic DNS set up for your router, first thing you might want to try is power cycling all of your devices(modem,router,xbox) and if it still isn't giving you one and is registering 0.0.0.0 you may want to contact your ISP to
    see if they can reset some things to get that corrected. An alternative method would be to use google's public DNS servers which is as follows.

    Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8

    Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

    Just enter those in manually and you should get a working connection.

    I have tried the same thing manual DNS setup does nothing. In my case the IPv6 DNS names are displayed in the network configuration (even though I am configuring IPv4) and there is no way to change them. I have setup IPv4 manually but the DNS is still
    taking DHCP IPv6.

    Appreicate if you can go ahead and start a new thread with a detailed descpription of your situation, along with any troubleshooting steps you have tried up to this point.

    Disable IPv6 on your router and post back in your new thread and let us know how that goes.

    NEED HELP CONNECTING XBOX 360 SLIM WITH TPLINK TL-WR2543ND

    Set to automatic with no security, it gets IP Address 169.254.103.157 / 255.255.0.0

    and if i configure the IP manually to 192.168.0.25 / 255.255.255.with DNS set to automatic .. it gives DNS error.

    And with IP and DNS both configured manually it gives IP Address error

    I tested my Xbox with the manual DNS settings and it seems to have worked. I had the Xbox IP address set to manual and configured, but left the DNS setting on automatic so it was not pulling a DNS for the Xbox. After I manually entered in the DNS the Xbox
    now seems to be staying connected.

    It seems as though your 360 can't resolve DNS. Manually configure your 360 to use a DNS server. I use Google's public DNS. 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.8.4

    As this sounds like you're having an issue with the dns name resolution you may try to setup a manually configured dns server on your Xbox One.

    To do this please go to settings / network / advanced settings / dns settings. Choose configure manually there and enter 8.8.8.8 for the first dns server and 8.8.4.4 for the secondary dns server there.

    Also I'd recommend to have the One setup in the DMZ as you already tried although your current problem is not a portforwarding problem.
