Can’t Chat Using Wireless Headsets

they aren't really wireless, they still need to be wired into the headset using an adapter it comes with. I want a real wireless headset with chat

If you're asking about wireless chat, it is not possible. The Warhead is the only 3rd party headset licensed to use the Xbox 360's wireless chat headset protocol; the Xbox One has different chat connections (and I don't think there are any wireless
options yet).

360 Console had the small Wireless Chat Headset unfortunately there is nothing at the moment for the Xbox One.

I understand that you don't have the need for a wireless stereo headset but if you would like a wireless headset that would be what is available at the moment. If you do wish to use a chat headset then you would have to opt for the wired options that we
have online on the
Xbox Accessories site.

Are you using a wireless headset like Astro A50? If so then you have to use the physical chat mixer that is built in to the headset as the console guide chat mixer will be greyed out.

This would fix the problem but it wont if you are using the headset wireless to chat in a party on xbox app or other apps and listen to game audio/music at the same time, unless you use the xbox wireless adapter you cannot use the stereo on the xbox wireless headset for both chat and gaming.

This is a feature of using this headset on windows (not experienced it with any others), even though you can join a party on the mobile app and listen to music or play a game without this problem at all.

only ways around being able to use the headset in stereo on windows pc while having chat/calls is to either plug it in via usb c or buying the xbox wireless adapter
