Can't change the Live ID associated with my gamertag

I have signed into the forums using Windows Live ID 2, with Gamertag 2.

I have followed the instructions on
this page to the letter. I have made a new Win. Live ID (ID 3 below) solely for the purpose of doing this.The whole ridiculous story goes like this:

I used my first Win. Live ID, ID 1, for my Xbox Gamertag, Tag 1. Recently I wanted to change the Win. Live ID associated with Tag 1, so I made ID 2. Later on I needed to synchronise my Windows Phone with Zune, so I signed into Zune with Win. Live ID 2. This
automatically made a new gamertag/Zune tag, Tag 2.

So today I came to change the Live ID associated with Tag 1 to the one associated with Tag 2, and following those instructions this meant I had to make a new Windows Live ID (ID 3) to do so.

Essentially, it was like this:

Gamertag 1 associated with Win. Live ID 1

Gamertag 2 (Zune) associated with Win. Live ID 2

Win. Live ID 3 hasn't got a Gamertag

And I want to change that to:

Gamertag 1 associated with Win. Live ID 2

Gamertag 2 (Zune) associated with Win. Live ID 3

Win. Live ID 1 hasn't got a Gamertag

I tried to change Gamertag 2 to ID 3 by downloading Tag 3 to my Xbox 360 and following the instructions. BUT, when I came to actually make the change, it wouldn't allow me, saying that I couldn't change it now. I haven't tried to change it before, so I don't
know why it would show me the warning.

I made Tag 2 a few days ago, and Win Live ID 3 today.

This is the only thing I can imagine is causing the problem - the ID/Tag are too "young" to be used in the process described above. But none of the guides talk about this being a problem.

I explored other solutions, such as deleting my Zune account so I could avoid using Win. Live ID 3, but deleting Zune would mean deleting the Win. Live ID 2 too.

Again, I want to associate Win. Live ID 2 with Gamertag 1.

Any ideas?

Changing the primary Windows Live ID associated with my XBOX Live subscription

Thanks - I've looked at that article but it only tells me how to change the Windows Live ID associated with the gamertag. This would mean my Windows Live ID is associated with my son's gamertag instead of his own Windows Live ID.

What I really need to do is transfer the Windows Live subscription over to my Windows Live ID / XBOX gamertag.

Can someone tell me how to do this please?

I just want to change the windows live ID associated to my gamertag to another windows live ID.

Notes

•You can move a gamertag to a different Microsoft account only once every 30 days.

◦This includes new gamertags downloaded from Xbox Live.

◦If you try to move a gamertag before 30 days have passed since the last time you moved it, you’ll get the following error message:

Sorry, we can't change your Microsoft account right now.

So if I download a profile to my Xbox, do I have to wait 30 days after I download to change the windows live ID associated with that gamertag? Because I have never changed the windows live id's associated with any of the gamertags.

i guess this shall prevent gamertag theft, so one can not easily Change the email associated.

If you just want to swap Live IDs, there's no need to pay to change gamertags. Use a 3rd Live ID to park one of the gamertags on; move the other gamertag to the freed-up Live ID; then move the first gamertag to the now-free Live ID, and the 3rd Live
ID is no longer associate with any gamertag.

Unfortunately, there's a 30-day wait between Live ID changes, so you can't do this all at once.

Change the WLID associated with my gamertag.

If for any reason you want to change the WLID you have associated with your account, all you need to do is follow these simple steps.

On the console, go to My Xbox, and select your avatar.
In Account Management, select “Manage Account”.
In Your Information, select “Windows Live ID”.
Select “Change Windows Live ID”.
1. If you have another Windows Live ID, select “Yes”.
2. If you do not have another Windows Live ID, on a computer, go to Welcome to Windows Live ID, and click “Sign up”.
Enter the password for the Windows Live ID that is currently associated with your gamertag, and then select “Sign in”.
Enter the email address and the password for the new Windows Live ID that you want to associate with your gamertag, and then select “Sign in”.
Select “Yes, change” to change the Windows Live ID associated with your Xbox LIVE account.
Select “Update Contact Information” to update your contact information, or select “Done” to finish
