Can't change name for free for the first time

Hello,

I've bought forza, then logged into Microsoft acc and hell, I see that my name is . As name of this topic says, I can not change it for free but only for 10bucks, but I have never ever used my free gamertag change before. Now I am so pis*ed about
this. I pay 70 euro for the game and then they want me to pay another money for this minor change.

Pls help someone

Didnt get my free gamertag change

Okay, so within the last year ive change my name for the first time and i had to pay for it, so anyways me and a couple of my friends decided to change their names so my friends changed their names but i didnt. my question is that i thogught that the first
time you change your name is free then you charge the standard 800mp for the change but i never got my free name change so i was wondering if it was possible to change it for free since i havent yet.

Any and all help would be such a help!

Free name change

If you're talking about the free name change when you first create the account. That is only valid for the first 30 days. If you don't change the name in that 30 days, you lose the opportunity to change it for free.

The free tag change does not last forever. You get that option when you use a auto-generated name, but if you do not use it, you loose it.

I'm guessing you had a real gamer tag before this?

Ir did you just create this account if you had a previous account then it would've been a enforcement action and those don't come with free name chsnges

Actuallly the time limit on a free name change was removed a while ago.It used to be 30 days.

As long as it's still the Microsoft generated tag you where given when the account was first created there is no time limit on when you can change it once for free now.

Me too, I had the same obligation.

As soon as I signed in, XBOX pulled a name that I once used (I dont even remember when. Plus, I dont even remember when I assigned this name to my hotmail.com/outlook.com account).

Anyhow as soon as I signed in this name popped up and now I can't change for free, even they say that the first gamertag change is for free.

What can I do?

You can only change it if you were given a randomly generated tag and are changing that tag. If it was a name you did choose at one time, you cannot change it for free.

OMG I didn't choose it. It was given me and I haven't got the chance to change it. Even when I try to contact live support, I can not start the conversation cause it says I have to fill the name bar, but I can;t click on the name bar...

So please is here any gamertag God who could change my name and don't make me suffer? That name appears everywhere and always when I see it I grelease angry hormones in my blood

Check your account info at http://account.live.com The information there should automatically fill in those fields. If not, you can try contacting them by phone. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada.
However, generally if the system is asking you to pay, then you'll have to pay.

I am from Slovakia and I think that here, support is very poor. And nope, those fields didn't fill

Every way I try to get help from microsoft employee ends up with failure to fill those bars

Because you can't change it without freeing the name first.

You should've released the name first then change

You are changing to the same name that's the issue

The hashtag isn't a part of your name.

It's autogenerated to make your name unique

Had you waited and change the name first on the first account then wait for the refresh then change the name you wouldn't have the hashtag because it tells you before you choose

Yes you gotta do it twice

As mentioned if you had done it before changing it the first time you would only have to do it once

Unfortunately you are going to have to free up the name as they won't accept it as different

You skipped both steps

You must wait for the refresh and there is no timetable

You gotta check the change and it will tell you if you get a hashtag or not

Unfortunately because you are using the name hence with a hashtag it's not counted as different

You have to change to free up the name and change it back

And no support can't give free name changes that's been like that like decades

Changing to the name again will only issue a hashtag since you have the name with a hashtag

You gotta free up the name that's the only option

You can change your gamertag once for free, any time after the first initial name change you will be charged a fee.

You used to be able yo change your name freely years ago, but they stopped it and changed it to one free name change.
