    Can't change gamertag to one which is available?


    Everytime I try change my gamertag to biossom, it says error. I've checked to see if anyone owns the gamertag but they dont.

    What seems to be the problem?

    Hi,

    I've tried to change my gamertag but they said that the gamertag is already taken, which is false because I can't find the member anywhere.

    For example : (sorry for the french link) https://live.xbox.com/fr-FR/en/Profile?gamertag=MacintoshPlus

    That member does NOT exist. And I can't change my gamertag to "MacintoshPlus".

    So my question is : how can I change my username to this one?

    Switch a new profile to an old one for Live.

    If you want to change your current gamertag over to the other one you can't I'm afraid, that's combining the two which is impossible.

    You also need to remember, names were taken for other Microsoft services other than Xbox... and some names were reserved/taken by Microsoft too

    You can't delete a gamertag/profile. If you pay 800 Points to change the gamertag, the old one will be available for a new profile. You can change the Live ID to another email address (that's free), making the old one available for a new profile.

    You'll have to make attempts to try and change your gamertag to whatever you're looking for to know if it's available or not. Keeping in mind gamertags can't actually start with numbers, there are probably many random combinations available, but many coherent
    ones taken.
