Can’t change gamertag on Xbox website

Hi,

I’ve been trying to change my xbox gamertag online through the xbox website but I can’t. On my Microsoft account it definitely says my account region is the UK and I do have a bank card attached to my account that I’ve bought things with recently, however
when I try to pay for the gamertag change the billing region is greyed out and shows the US.

When I try to change my Xbox account region it won’t let me as it says I’ve already changed it in the past 12 months. I thought regions could be changed every 3-4months?

Gamertag Issue

I recently changed my gamertag on my Xbox One. I paid the $10 or whatever to change my gamertag, but now I can’t log into my 360 account on backwards campatability because it says “this profile can’t connect to Xbox Live on this console.” How do I fix this
issue, possibly with step-by-step instructions please.

Gamertag can’t change

I tried changing my gamertag on the Xbox website and it said that it’s restricted through parental controls. I had my parent try to get rid of parental controls a long time ago but it still won’t work. Can anyone help?

I'm afraid that changing regions is once in 12 months at this moment.

If you changed region within that time period of 12 months then you will have to wait until you can change it again.

A region migration should only be used when you are going to move to a different country for a long time.

You can double check the current region of your account at :
https://live.xbox.com/Account/BillingAccountInformation

Something else worth to check is that the website is set to the correct country/region in the bottom left corner when you try to change the gamertag.

If it still fails please try to see if you can change the Gamertag via the steps on the console or the Xbox App as mentioned here:

Based on the info provided this sounds like it may be a little more involved than what we can help with on these forums. I would reach out to MS Billing Support to get ot fully sorted, they should be able to help.

 

Just an update on this issue for anyone else who is having the same problem.

If you try change your gamertag through the console it will work fine, somehow it's just the website that's messed up. Still unsure how to fix that exact problem where the website thinks I'm in the US but purchases through my console are unaffected so I'm
not really bothered what the website says.

Thanks for posting what you did to fix this, or work around it. There are different things that do this for some reason, work good on console, not on site and vise versa.
