    Can't change Gamertag for free


    Hello,

    This may be the wrong place to post, as there was no "General" support category.

    Im trying to change my gamertag, but it says i have already changed it once for free, but i have never changed it,

    So can you at the support somehow see my name history? im 100% sure i have never changed it so it's strange.

    Gamertag question?

    You can easily change your Xbox Live gamertag. If your gamertag was created for you during your initial Xbox Live sign-up (meaning, you did not choose your gamertag), you can change the gamertag once for free. Additional Xbox Live gamertag changes cost extra

    Xbox Live Gamertag

    Why do Xbox only let you change your gamertag once for free?? Why can't we change our gamertag for free when we renew our xbox live... because in theory we can create a new xbox live account but then we lose our gamerscore.

    Hey there, Tobem! Because you have a personalized GT right now, that means you have already used your free change. The one free change is offered if you have a generic GT created by us. This generally is AdjectiveNoun12345 (random numbers). When you set
    up your account, you likely chose your own GT instead of one of these randomly created GTs, and that is using your one free change.

    Hopefully that helps clears up the use of the free change. Can't change Gamertag for free :) Let me know if you need any further clarification.

    You can't change gamertag 5 times per year. You get one free change, if you accept the given gamertag, after that it is $10 per change.

    You can't delete your gamertag, you can only change the name but there is a fee associated with that if you change it beyond the one free change you get when you make a gamertag.
