    Can't change gamertag back


    Today, my girlfriend and I decided to put money onto her account so we could get some DLC. She, however, didn't have a LIVE account, so we set it up. I thought it was just going to make a separate account with LIVE for her, but it had overwritten her account,
    and changed her gamertag. Immediately upon discovering this, we figured we could use the free GT change to change it back. However, when we tried, it said it was still in use. What do we do?

    Can't Change Gamertag

    I was attempting to change my gamer tag for the first time. The one I want is available but every time I attempt I receive the following error code:

    Not sure why I am getting an error message. Also I thought you get one free change, maybe that is the reason there is an issue?

    Hi I'm from Mexico and I'm trying to change my gamertag since some weeks buying it with paypal or with debit card but it seems like I just can't, I really need some help, this error keeps popping out:

    Can't change gamertag back

    If you did change the gamertag, it can take some time before the system recognizes that it's freed up. I'd give it at least 24 hours.

    Keep in mind though, that if the new gamertag is one she chose, you will not receive a free change.

    Just changed gamertag - Can't change it back.

    It can take time for the system to update showing the old one as being available again.

    Gamertag "can't be accepted"?

    The reason you can't change back is the gamertag you had before is 14 characters and the new limit is 12 with the gamertag change.

    When I changed my gamertag my ea that was says it is still linked to my old gamertag.

    I just changed my gamertag and the EA account says I still have it linked to my old gamertag. I haven't changed my Microsoft account at all only my gamertag. I can't get it back since to change your gamertag it has to be under 12 characters and my old gamertag is 14 characters.

    In order to change it, you will have to change the tag to something else and then change it back with a capital letter. So you will have to pay for 2 gamertag changes. The system doesn't see things like capital letters as making a gamertag unique. So you
    can't just change it because the system already sees you as having the gamertag.
