Can't change account setting due to security change.

If your account is set for a different region then where you live and you can't change it due to security settings, give support a call and they can change it for you.

I did, but it didn't improve.

Oh I see. Since you change a security setting on your account, Microsoft gives you a deadline for this change take effect. In the meantime, your account has its access and some actions, restricted, mainly in the purchase part. I believe this is what is happening, due to the change you made to the account.

so in short you can't access your security settings etc, due to a no longer in use Phone number, Correct?

That option will allow to remove all security options, but keep in mind that it will lock you out for certain settings for at least 30 days, this is a security measure.

My assumption is that you won't be able to change the setting you like for the next 30 days, but after that it should be possible.

Have you tried going to the name change page and seeing if there is a charge?
