Can't change 360 controller to player 1 on Windows 10

While you can't use Media Center with Windows 10 (as Windows 10 doesn't have Media Center anymore), you can still stream music, videos and pictures to your Xbox 360 via DLNA.

To set that up, start the Windows Media Player on your Windows 10 PC, and make sure the Media Player has access to your media files. Usually, Media Player looks for that under "Users\[YOUR USERNAME HERE]\[Pictures | Music | Videos]"

If you use different folders or drives for your media library, you need to add those folders and drives to the Media Player's library.

If your media shows up in the Media Player window, you need to turn on Media Sharing on the Windows 10 PC.

Open the start menu, and type "Control" to find the Control Panel.

In the Control Panel, type in the upper right corner "Media"

Under "Network and Sharing Center" should be a link to the "Media Streaming Options".

If necessary, enable Media Streaming and make sure your Xbox 360 is running.

You should then see the Xbox 360 in the list of available devices. Allow the Xbox 360 to access your PC's Media Library.

Now, on your Xbox 360, start the Music Player, Photo Viewer or Video player, and as source choose your PC from the list.

You should then see the media that your PC shares to your local network.

Have you tried plugging the controllers into different USB ports on your Xbox 360 S to see if there is any change in connection? They shouldn't both be connecting to Play 1, be sure they're signed into different profiles when connecting to Xbox Live.

Yes I tried various ports and I also tried to connect in various orders such as Player 1 (P1) - Wired Xbox 360 Controller for Windows and Signed In, P2 = Wireless Xbox 360 Controller and Signed In but when connecting the third one for P3 - Wired Xbox 360
Controller for Windows it assigns as P1 and takes control away from the first assigned controller.

I have a VERY similar issue... i think you are talking about a wired 360 controller, but I am more specifically talking about a wired 360 guitar (controller). mine also is recognized by windows 10 as a 360 controller (not a guitar), and despite everything I do with them (i have 2)... it will not work on my xbox 1 x through windows 10 (and the xbox companion app built into windows 10). I was able to get my xbox 1 wired regular controller to work using windows 10. if you find an answer, please let me know, it will likely fix my issue as well, even though my issue is slightly different

Keep both. I've seen only 10 of my friends max, playing on Xbox 1 and all of them return to 360. It's true 360 can do stuff which 1 can't (like 1. voice messaging on the same platform 2. add a theme/any pic as your dashboard background 3. a funner Party
system which doesn't look so windows 8 4. can read videos/pictures from USB 5. chatpad 6. 360's UI is faster than 1's UI if you navigate with just your controller. 1's UI you have to.... wait... for the menu's to load and it has a boring black background which
you can't change yet 7. no bio/name/motto/location on your profile. 360, xbox.com and 360 smartglass have it).

Some positives about the 1 is that it doesn't abruptly disconnect you from Xbox Live every time there's an update (esp annoying if your in a party), and it gives you more detailed network connection info including ping, etc, the controller is nice and Kinect
can read QR codes. Voice commands are not available for NZ locale but NZ'rs can just temporarily change locale to Australia to see voice commands work. Battery indicator and Recent Players list. Skype must allow users to change your DOB mobile number and personal
info from Public to Private which is why I've left those fields blank (allow control over which personal info you want public, private, contacts only). I feel even Video Kinect run totally by the Xbox division is more secure than Skype. All and all I give
1 a 5/10 (still pass) and 360 10/10. They should role out external HDD support soon. 1 has only been out for not even 4 months yet.
