Can't cancel or pause game update / Blank Screen

Two fold problem that I think are linked to each other

Cannot cancel or pause a game update - I can use the Menu button fine, and see that a game is trying to update, but when I click on it, and choose "pause updating" or "cancel" - both options do nothing. Even after 10 minutes, the game is still showing as "udpating"

Also, I'm getting a blank screen on start up. As mentioned above, I can use the main menu, but can't get to anything. I can't access Settings as it brings up the icon, and goes back to a blank screen. I tried the Microsoft Store option, and that does nothing.

Menu does show that I have friends online.

1) how can i stop the update (please don't suggest turning off wi-fi because I literally can't do that. I'm on a shared wifi access point and can't physically turn it off)

2) why is my screen blank?

My installation wont cancel or install

I tried to pause all my installations so i can install an update, but my install didnt pause or continue its just stuck saying its installing. I try to cancel,uninstall,and pause but nothing works. I cant play anything because everything needs an update
that i cant install.

 

Titanfall update 6 is a disaster so far

my prob since the update is that as i go into the game from the lobby it pauses and i can't chose my pilot class ,titan class or burn card . also i think there are faint stripes on the initial screen

 

ALSO, just realized that my Xbox One doesn't recognize any discs. (this is when the screen wasn't blank)

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear about the issue you may be experiencing with your Xbox One on a black screen.

I would recommend to soft factory reset the Xbox console. There may be times when you want to reset your

console's operating system (OS) to its factory defaults for troubleshooting purposes, but you want to Reset and keep games and apps installed.

Since the console is limited in functions, please try the following steps:

1. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
   
2. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
3. Press and hold the BIND button (located below the Xbox button on the console) and the
   EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the
   Xbox button on the console.
4. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
   
5. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the
   BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.
6. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.
7. Select Reset this Xbox.
8. Select Reset and keep my games & apps.

Note: When doing this troubleshooting step, Make sure to have your emails and passwords for your Xbox profiles on the console. It will log you off the profiles and your wireless network.
