Can't "buy" games with gold game because I have game pass?

So I recently upgraded to the Ultimate gamepass xbox live sub. I now find that since I have gamepass which I did not before, I can no longer "buy" the free game with gold if it's also a game offered with gamepass. I go into the store and it says install
there is no longer an option to buy it for free like I was able to prior to upgrading. Someone please help me out because this is so not ok, I would like to be able to play Gears 4 and Forza 6 after I cancel my gamepass and as it is now that looks like it
won't be possible.

Scratch that, Idk if it's my Xbox starting to kick the bucket or my internet but after restarting my router and doing a hard reboot of my console it finally updated to "owned". Thank you for the reply Brad

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. If you select get this will let you purchase or download free and it counts as you own it. Personally unable to test gears of war 4 as already own it. But, was able to get forza 6 as went back and it says
owned.

I did select "get this" and installed them. That being said, when I go back to the store under the games with gold it shows both games and it doesn't say "owned" its says "$29.99 crossed out Free* with gold". So it clearly isn't owned on my console even
though I have done the exact same thing you did.
