Can't buy backwards compatible games on my Xbox One or online

Hi all. I just got my Xbox One S and I am trying to buy an older games (360). When I try to do this on my Xbox One, I won't get to see the price. Something just does not work.

When I try to do this online, a window opens and says: "Something went wrong."

What can I do to resolve this?

Xbox One backwards compatibility

The "Backwards Compatibility" only exists for games that they have told the XBox ONE to recognise as "Backwards Compatible".

Most of the games on the XBox 360 simply will not work on the XBox ONE.

Microsoft will claim the reason they can't make everything available at once is that they need a Publisher's permission to make the game Backwards Compatible.

But the real reason Backwards Compatibility exists is to lure XBox 360 owners who have been on the fence for a while into the false supposition that they will be able to play their 360 games on the ONE.

If you could do that... why not buy a ONE?

 

Cannot buy games with backward compatibility (Trial Gold)

Hello 2 days ago and now i can't buy game with backward compatibility on xbox one s, i have 1 month trial gold, i read on some forum that becouse of that i have trial Gold i can't buy games with backward compatibility, is that true or this is other problem?

 

There are a couple of problems that could cause this:

1. You're on a child account - they can't purchase anything on the xbox 360 marketplace. (changing microsoft account age doesn't change your xbox account age)

2. The game is not available in your region.

3. Your xbox one's store app is not updated.

4. You're trying to purchase the xbox 360 game with money in your account balance and not with a credit/debit/paypal account. Xbox 360 games can NOT be bought with currency stored in your account due to how the store was created.

5. A temporary problem with the store.

Solutions:

1. Your xbox needs a factory reset to fix this problem on the store: Settings > System > Console Info & Updates > Reset console > "keep games and apps". (requires account redownload).

2. Buy the game on the
https://marketplace.xbox.com/ store and it will appear on your console at My Games and Apps > Ready to Install, once you purchase it.

You need a credit card on file for 360 games, 360 titles are not available in all regions digitally so you may not be able to purchase certain games that way.

Uh oh... that should not have happened. It appears you have found a glitch in the system. Please try again later."

I'll try the reset, but isn't that a bit strange? The One is just two days old and in use...

 

I have a credit card. Not yet used as a payment method though. I was able to buy Xbox One games with Paypal, so I used that.

If you own a Xbox 360, then you can use that to purchase the games, and they will show up on the Xbox One for you to download.

 

I do. But I have never used that with this account.

 

If you have the game digitaly then the backward compat games would just show in ready to download games . If on disk , put the disk in the xbox and install

 

I don't have this game digital yet, nor on disk.

 

Both solutions did not help

Thanks for your post! Xbox 360 Games that are backwards compatible can only be purchased using a credit/debit card on the Xbox One. I see you mentioned that you have only been using PayPal, have you attempted using a credit/debit card already?
