Can't buy backwards compatible games on marketplace?

Hi,

I am in the xbox preview program and I am trying to buy some games that are backwards compatible on the xbox 360 marketplace on my pc to download them to my xbox but i can't buy the games.

When i try to buy the game i get a popup where normaly the biling information should be, but i only get a message that says (in dutch so the translation might be a bit of):

Is this your first purchase? sign in to xbox live on your console and try again to make sure this device is compatible.

I've never played on an xbox 360 with this account so i figured that this is probably the problem. Is this a known issue and is there a fix?

There is no email for support. You would have to contact them via phone or chat.

I have been trying to buy a backwards compatible game Red Dead Redemption for a while now but it seems I keep facing the same issue, which is that I do not have a valid payment option on file even when I'm paying for Xbox gold monthly.

When I change the payment method, it redirects me to the UK website asking for a UK billing address etc, however, I am based in SG and do not have that information.

Is there a support email I can contact, the live chat doesn't work well for me as I am not at my desk all day and can't keep staying and waiting for an answer due to work.

 

An easy fix

If you are trying to get gears of war 3 you need to login on any xbox 360 wheneverit s a friend or an rental with your account and make one purchase

Its not really an issue because its not a publically released software yet

You need an 360 account

And for some games like gears you need to check if your console is actually compatible due to the region check which includes the console compatibility ntsc pal or ntsc j

Once you make a purchase on a console then it will have an region registered for the console

 

It's not gears 3, (for as far as i know gears 3 is not backwards compatible)

I can't download any backwards compatible game.

Is there another way then to log in on a xbox 360 console? like if i buy a physical disc of a backwards compatible game, would it work then? and would i be able to download 360 games after that.

 

You need some gameplat on an xbox 360 doesnt matter if it is a friends or a rental you need a purchase from a console for the first time to make it an 360 account to

Again i wouldnt expect anything till the public release as far as marketplace changes goes

 

Yes any game currently on the bc list would work with the beta vis disk
