Can't appear Online to friends

Hi all!

My friend informed me last night that he could not see me online, in his friend's list I was listed as "Offline". Tried 2 things with no success:

1) In my profile I tried toggling the "Appear Offline/Appear Online" selection but each still shows me as Offline to others.

2) Confirmed that in my Online and Privacy settings it is set to Custom, and in the selection for "Others can see if you are online" it is indeed set to "Friends".

I have seen posts around the net saying to solve it using smartglass or win 10 settings but I am not connected in any way t win 10 or smartglass.

I have no idea where else to look for problems. I looked around all over the settings for various things and don't see anything else that might effect Online status. Any ideas?

Can't See Online Friends

Hey all,

I've been having this issue for a few months now. I've tried to get Xbox Support to help with no success. Basically I can't see any of my friends when they are online. Not on my Xbox OR on my account in the "Friends" section. My account is set to visible
and non of my friends are set to "Do Not Disturb" or "Appear Offline." I can't invite anyone to an active game (because I can't see them online, nor will my Xbox let me even though they are online), but friends can invite me (friends can see that I am online).

I don't think this an issue with they way my Xbox is set up because I can't see friends are online both on Xbox or on xbox.com in the "Friends" section.

Any thoughts? Thanks for the help!

How did they screw this up this bad?

Why are the new friend features such a step back!?!? Can't invite friends to games from their profile, can't appear busy or away, no bio, name, or any kind of info and no virtual avatar, can't see when they get online or get on the same game as you.

WTH HAPPENED? WHY DID MS TAKE SUCH A HUGE STEP BACKWARDS WITH XB1 FRIENDS?

UPDATE: it seems that in item 2) setting Custom for Everybody instead of Friends solves this. Unfortunately that means sacrificing a little privacy so that friends can see me online but oh well...at least they can see me now. Not an optimum solution, but
it IS a solution I suppose.

Major Nelson has said the feature was removed because the stupid "follow" feature where you can add anyone you want and see what they are doing. They said you would get too many notifications. Here is one for your Mircrosoft. I DONT WANT FOLLOWERS! If I
wanted that I would be on Facebook or twitter.

Yeah this happens to me too, the only way i have found to get my friends to appear online is I have to invite them to the game, it doesn't matter if they accept or not but it shows there online status again it's the only way I know, I know it's something
to do with the Blops 2 game and I think it has been brought up there forum, but whether it will get sorted or not we will have to wait and see.

How am I not supporting it? I have over $1,000 into the system and games. That isn't supporting the system? Ok lil guy.
