I'm trying to follow the instructions at Grant an Exception to Your Child’s Content Limits on Xbox One. I have my child
set up to allow up to e10+ games, but want to allow a specific T rated game. When signed in under the child account, I launch the T game, and get the message:

STAR WARS Battlefront is rated above <child account>'s content restrictions

To continue please enter the passkey or password for this account.

According to the instructions, I should be seeing a page that says Choose who will give permission, and a listing of parent accounts. As it sits now, my child could access any restricted content by entering their own password, with no intervention by a
    parent.

I've gone to xbox support, and they had me re-download the parent and child profiles, update the settings on xbox.com, change the settings in many ways, and even reset the Xbox. On my own, I went and removed everyone from the family, then put them back in.
    Nothing has changed the behavior.

I'm pretty sure something is messed up in the family settings online, but I don't know if there's a way to start from scratch with that Live account?

    :)

Xbox One Family & granting exceptions to content limits for child accounts: Allow Always versus Just Once

    Hi there helpful forum members,

I am having trouble with my Xbox One and Family settings on child accounts when it comes to access exceptions to games above the approved content lists.

In short: Allow Always exception doesn't save to the "hidden" (at least hidden to me) allowable games list and keeps asking for permission on the child account every time my console powers down and back on again to play another day.

For example: As the parent in my home, I don't want my children having access to certain mature content until they are older. So, I make a child account and set it up for Content and Apps for ages 3 and up. This gives me peace of mind about everything they
can access without me constantly watching the screen. But, when I go to add a game as an exception to the child account's list with my adult account I get two options: ALLOW ALWAYS or ALLOW JUST THIS ONCE.

I choose ALLOW ALWAYS and expect the Xbox One to remember this exception. But once I power down the console it seems that this gets forgotten somehow and I have to make the game an exception again.. Can't allow an exception for a game on a child account. :) ......and again.... :| .....and again... Can't allow an exception for a game on a child account. :(
    .....and again........

So it would seem that this option of ALLOW ALWAYS is doing the same thing as ALLOW JUST THIS ONCE.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong to not get the setting saved? This seemed soooooo much easier to use on the Xbox 360. Any suggestions how I can fix this???

  4. Can't allow an exception for a game on a child account.

I'm wondering if there's something that tells Live that the account is a child other than just being listed as a child account in a family? When not in the family under my account, the child account seems to have full privilege to set it it's own family,
set content restrictions, etc. The DOB is set so the child is clearly under 18. Is there something else that the child account could be missing?

Ok for ea games like battlefront

How old did you set your child.to.be?

    I'd he under 13?if so that's yournproblem

EA requires him to.be over 13 to have an ea account

  6. It's not just EA games. I've tried Destiny, same behavior. If I enter the Live password for the child account, it launches the game. But he shouldn't be able to launch a restricted game with his own password, it's supposed to require a parent account to
    access the game.

Star wars battlefront cannot be played using a child account even if you have already change the privacy and online safety of your child account. This is a restriction put there by the game developer itself and Microsoft can't do anything about it.

  9. But the game can be played with the child account. The system prompts for the child account's password, and once entered allows the game to be played in full.

    Family issues

    TravisWilliam5,

If you remove a child account and readd them it will not affect their game progress. However, you’re not able to remove a child account to readd it as an adult account. A child account only becomes an adult account when that person reaches legal age.

You can allow certain content on a child’s account by following this link you will find more information on how to grant exceptions to your child’s content limits. LINK: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/security/grant-exception-child-content-limits

I think the wrong age may be associated with my account when I signed up.

Honestly, except for demos there's not much you'd miss on a child account vs. an adult one anyway. Settings can be changed to allow a child account to download M rated content.

Please see this page for how to grant an exception for a child account to play games that the account can not normally play:

(Please note that changing the birth date on the Microsoft account will not change the birth date of the xbox account - that's permanent.)

    ------------------

If you want to give your child permission to view content that’s rated higher than the child account settings for your family, you don’t need to change all of the settings to give access to a specific item.

Any adult in the family can grant exceptions to the content limits currently in the child account settings for your family. You have two options in granting exceptions:

    • Always – This option grants a permanent exception that can’t be revoked.
    • Just this once – This option is a one-time-only exception. It expires as soon as the child signs out of the console.

How to grant an exception to content limits

Note If you’re allowing your child to buy the game or video to which you’re granting an exception, the content must be purchased, downloaded, and installed before you can give permission to use it.

    1. Have your child sign in to their account on the Xbox One console.
    2. Locate the content you want to allow your child to access.
    3. On the Choose who will give permission screen, select the account of the adult family member who's providing permission.
    4. Enter the adult’s account email address and password, or the console’s passkey.
    5. Select either Always or Just this once.
After you give permission for your child to use this content, they can open the content immediately.
