Can't add new Xbox PC Game Pass games onto SSD external

I just got an SSD external and after putting one game on it Xbox is not letting me put any other games on the external. I went into my settings and set the external as my default drive to put games on, and I can access the drive from my computer. Steam is having no problems putting games onto the external and I can run games without any issues so I know its not a problem with the drive, yet every time I try and download a game from Xbox onto the external it doesn't pop up as an option and I only see my C: drive in there. I've tried removing the drive a few times and even restarting my PC hoping that it would give it a kick and nothing has worked. This is a brand new lap top I got yesterday and a brand new SSD that still has 700 mbs free on it so I am at a loss right now.

1. Go to "my computer" > Select the disk you want to save files from now on.

2. There will be a folder called "Windows apps" > Right click and select properties > security > advanced.

3. Another tab will appear, click continue (for this, your account must have admin privileges).

4. Where is owner click "change" > then "Advanced" > Then "find now" > Then choose "Authenticated Users" > Click OK, then OK again and click apply.

5. After this rename the WindowsApps folder to WindowsApps.old

6. Create a new folder called WindowsApps.

NOTE: It is important that you rename the folder according to step 5 and create another one according to step 6, otherwise it won't work.

7. Restart the PC.

8. Then try changing the save location for new apps and games in the settings again.

Also, you could try to install the games on your internal drive, and then go to settings > applications > highlight the game you want to move, and then, click on the option move, to move it to your external drive.

Exact same issue, exact same setup. I run off a external SSD for the increased speed as my Imac 27 - 2019 doesn't have an SSD. Basically I can't play most games from my game pass which is very disappointing.

Xbox Series X games / upgrades / updates has to be installed onto the Series X internal or expansion card SSD,

You can have Xbox One games on your external hard drive that will get an Series X upgrade but the games will need to be transferred to the Series X and then the Series X upgrade will need to be downloaded onto the Series X SSD,

As an example...

I have Marvel Avengers on my external hard drive that will get the Series X upgrade and I will transfer the game over to the Series X SSD ready to download and update the game to the Series X version when available.

Just like to add, unless your external drive is an SSD, don't bother. This game NEEDS an SSD, it will be unplayable on a mechanical hard drive.

yea it doesn't give me the option to add it from the hard drive just my PC, I want to add it from my external SSD
