    can't add new credit card to account due to region


    for some reason my xbox account thinks I'm in America and asks for a state province when I'm in the united Kingdom, however it won't let me change my region and i can't remove my old credit card as it says this account still has an existing balance, even
    though this credit card has expired. there is nothing I can do it's highly frustrating and the support provided is no use at all either!

    Can't add credit card due to stuck in US region

    Hi,

    I want to change my gamertag but am forced to add a credit card to pay for this (even though I have paypal connected to my Microsoft account), and as I live in Europe I can't add the credit card as it seems to be locked to US only.

    I have tried navigating the site (which is a mess) to find where on my account it says I'm in US, which I don't remeber I ever set up.

    Could someone please guide me how to update my location or show me how to add another payment option?

    How to Manage your Xbox LIVE payment options

    Overview

    You can choose to use more than one payment method for your Xbox LIVE account. The payment options include credit cards and PayPal accounts. You can use these payment options to buy items from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

    The 2-year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract uses only credit cards as the payment option. The other payment options like Debit Cards, Prepaid cards and PayPal are not valid for this subscription. However, you can change your payment to another credit card.

    If it is before the end of the two years and there is no credit card associated with your account, it is assumed you have terminated the subscription, and you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and any applicable taxes.

    It is easy to edit your payment options on your console or at Xbox.com

    Steps to Follow

    Add or change a payment option using your console

    1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to Sign in.

    2) Proceed to Settings and then select Account.

    3) Select Manage Payment Options, and then choose either of the following:
    • If you want to add a new credit card, select Add Credit Card.
    • If you want to use your PayPal account on Xbox LIVE, select Add PayPal. You will be required to enter your PayPal username and password. Follow the instructions to add PayPal as a payment option. You cannot use PayPal as a payment option for the 2 year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract. PayPal is not available in all regions.
    4) After making changes to payment options, select Update Payment Option.

    Add or Change a payment option on Xbox.com

    1) Go to My Account.

    2) Select Payments and Billings and click on Manage Payment Options.

    3) You may be required to Sign in using your Microsoft account (email and password).

    4) Proceed to do either of the following:

    If you want to edit a payment option, select Edit.

    If you want to add a payment option, you can do either of the following:
    • Click on Add New Credit Card and enter the credit card information
    • Click on PAY with PayPal and follow the instructions.

    and now i've tried to redeem code through amazon and it's stuck on processing payment and will take up to 4 hours! to say I'm not a happy customer is an understatement!

    Xbox Live Gold Purchase Error

    Does this also come with a "Cannot retrieve information from XBOX Live"? If that's so I believe this error you are encountering is due to having an expired credit card at one point on your account. You can try to remove the credit card (if for some reason
    that doesn't work) please contact XBOX Support for your region and speak with the Billing Department.

    Have them first remove that credit card from the account (if it's expired) and then have them add a new credit card and try to add your subscription to your account.

    Let us know if that worked =].

    I believe by "reset billing information" you mean that you can't use your credit card on your account because you can't change the Region/Country (it's set in the wrong region) which is why you can't use your credit card. Unfortunately, you would need to make
    a new account to fix this issue as once a LIVE account is created the region is set in stone, it cannot be changed.

    I'm sorry to hear about your issues with your account mate. Actually, the reason why when you change the locale of the console to UK you can't see your credit card attached is because your card was attached to your Spain account. When you add a card, it
    is only attached to the region where you have registered it and not to all the regions for xbox live. That's the reason why when changing the locale of the console, your actually trying to change the region of the marketplace where you're trying to purchase.

    So to clear it up. To purchase on specific regions. You need to have a credit card available for that specific region. This is due to licensing of games that are bought inside and outside the user's region and also due to taxes applied. Its against the terms
    of agreement to manipulate and take advantage of other regions prices for there items.

    What I could recommend here is to purchase digital gift cards to redeem under your account. Then just set up a UK/US billing address. Once you load up your gift cards. Then your account will have enough credits to buy games.

    Oh, and 1more thing, is it possible to add new credit card in Microsoft Billing and Account Managment page? If it so how? I could try to add my credit card there, meybe it would work. If no, is there a way how to cofigure removed credit card? On that page
    my credit card is in (removed) option, meybe its that problem, you can't add same credit card anymore once deleted? Thanks.
