    Can't add my xbox email to outlook


    I know this probably isn't the right forum for this question but I've been trying to add my @xboxlivefamily email to outlook to send and recieve but no matter what I do it always gives me an error saying that I can't connect to the POP3 servers. any help
    would be nice. Can't add my xbox email to outlook :)

    Changing email associated with gamertag

    I want to change my Xbox Live account email address. My current address is a Hotmail account, my new address is an Outlook account. If I try to add my Outlook account as an Alias it won't allow me to. It will only allow non Microsoft accounts to be added
    as an Alias.

    It used to be much simpler to change your email address before. How do I change the Hotmail account associated with my Gamertag to an Outlook account?

    How to change email associated with gamertag

    I currently have a hotmail email associated with my gamertag. I am wanting to change it to an outlook email that I already have set up. I've gone through the steps, trying to add alias, etc but nothing works. When I try to add my outlook account as an alias
    to my original hotmail account I get a message saying "this email address is already taken." I know its taken...by me! So I have no idea what to do anymore. Can you not switch from hotmail to outlook because they're both MS services?

    Once you link your Outlook account to a Xbox gamertag you can't add that email to a different gamertag, you could add a different email that had never even linked to a Xbox account only

    The problem is this the Outlook email is already a Microsoft (MS) account since MS owns outlook so you can not add that email to another account as an alias. If you try and go into the Outlook account and add an alias there then remove the outlook email
    it will delete that email forever so DO NOT do that.

    One email (the xbox account) is an icloud and the other (my laptop) is an outlook email. I tried changing alliases but it said that email was already in use (the outlook email), so I'm not sure if it's a "can't do anything about it" thing or not.

    You cannot transfer an Xbox profile to another Microsoft account, it is permanently linked to the Microsoft account it was created for.

    Additionally, you can't add an existing Outlook email to another Microsoft account. As stated on the Microsoft Support website: https://support.microsoft.com/office/459b1989-356d-40fa-a689-8f285b13f1f2

    "Existing Hotmail, Live, Outlook.com, and MSN addresses can't be added as aliases, and you can't add an alias that is already associated with another Microsoft account."

    In this case, your options are creating a new Outlook email for the Microsoft account linked to your Xbox profile, or adding an existing email from another service such as Gmail.

    So I should make the new outlook ID the primary and make the old one the alias?
