Can't access Xbox Live features on video games

I have a Xbox One console, and Xbox Live Basic Subscription. For the games Borderlands 2 & Borderlands The Pre Sequel, when I go to the Extras/Shift Code Menu, I get a message saving "Access Restricted. To redeem Gearbox Software Codes, you must be connected
to Xbox Live and have online privileges."

My Xbox Live Basic username and game level show on the top right side of the screen above the three slots that are offline. So why is my access restricted and how do I make my access accepted?

On my Xbox One My Profile Screen, I made the settings, Appear Online, and under Privacy Settings, I set the Online Statue & History to Sharing Outside of Xbox Live. I also set my Profile to Friends, Everybody, and Allow. Under Account Communication & Multiplayer,
I set everything to either Allow, Everybody, and Friends. Under Game Content, I set everything to Allow, And Everybody. The Borderlands 2 Shift Code screen still shows my username at the top right of the screen, and the three section below it still show Offline.
My Access is still restricted for entering Shift Codes. Is there something that I'm missing or still need to do?

I tried Cache Clear three times, with no improvement in my problem.

Everytime I go to play any game, the Xbox Live Sign In screen logs me on.

I just noticed, that I get the same type of error message when I go to play Saints Row The Third. When I click on Downloadable Content on the main screen it says "You must be signed in to Xbox Live to use this feature."

The only thing that I can conclude, is that even though my console is signing me into Xbox Live, my games aren't registering that sign in, and are seeing me as being offline, even though my console shows that I am online and signed in to Xbox Live.

Against my better judgement, I went ahead and subscribed to Xbox Live Gold for a month, but this didn't make any difference either.

I went to my Xbox's Settings page and the results are as follows:

I've learned that Wireless Headphones can sometime cause Packet Loss.

With my wireless headphones connected nearby, the readings were as follows:

On the Network page of my Xbox Live account when I clicked on the Network Settings button, it showed my Current Network status as being:

My SSID name and the signal strength indicator icon as complete.

Ipv4.

NAT Type: Open.

All services are available.

Then I did the troubleshooting list.

Test Network Connection=Your console is connected to the internet.

Test Multiplayer Connection=There are no problems with your connection for multiplayer.

Test NAT Type=It looks like your NAT type is Open right now.

I still think the problem is that even though my Xbox One shows me as signed in after I turn it on, and the Network settings show me as being connected, that my games are not reading me as being signed in or connected.

Hello, I have a few questions for you. First, do you have your controller linked to a specific Account so that as soon as you turn your Xbox it signs you in? I ask because I have had a similar issue where it was almost as if the Xbox didn’t know I signed
in. The auto sign in linked to my controller was glitching out and would not allow me to play anything online (even with gold). I had to sign out and manually sign back in. If you have your controller set the same way give that a try. And even a hard reset
wouldn’t hurt if you haven’t already! (Holding the Xbox power button until it shuts completely off or pressing the home button, going over to the systems tab and pressing restart console.

This is interesting. However the error message you have referenced above makes me suspect you haven't got an Xbox Gold membership. To check, please can you go to this site and sign into your Microsoft Account: https://account.microsoft.com

Once you have signed into your account, please select Service and Subscriptions and tell me if you see your Xbox Live membership listed, and it is still in an Active state?

Thanks for responding so quickly. Actually, I do have a Xbox Live Gold subscription. I had just re-subscribed to it a few hours before I sent in my problem to the community. I had a Xbox. Live Gold subscription several months ago. And at the time,
I was able to apply the shift codes to the Xbox One version of Borderlands 2 & BL TPS with no problem. I also have versions of those same games on PS4 & Steam, where I am able to enter the shift codes with no problem. I just had a problem with having to take
out a Gold subscription on Xbox, but didn’t need to pay extra with PS4 & Steam, for the same access.

Okay, I stand corrected. While preparing this reply, I went back to try and enter the shift codes, and it is now allowing me access to enter the shift codes. So the solution to this problem is what I thought it was when I had the Gold subscription before.
With Microsoft, they charge you for what you get for free from Sony & Steam.
